Any rec's for Vegas in beginning of March for Pac-12 Basketball Tourney. I'm looking towards FrozenSunshine or niq for recent Vegas recs. I want some recs that aren't "fancy." We will probably stay at MGM, Excalibur, or NY NY.

AHEm!!! I was just there tooooooo!!!!!!
what specifically are you looking for recs on?
If you can swing it, don't rent a car, just take a cab to your hotel and then find the nearest monorail station (would be MGM) and get passes for however long you are there if you want to get up and down the strip.
Yeah definitely no need to mess with a rental car, just plan on cabs, the monorail (we didn't try that but heard it was good) or wear comfy shoes and plan to hoof it.

Out of those three I'd stay at MGM but otherwise MGM, then NY NY then Excalibur. (In the same area Luxor was actually more recently renovated then Excalibur.)
I've never messed with a cab or monorail. I have two feet that get me where I need to go or late at night a cab back.
What kinda food you looking for? I've been to Vegas about 10 times too many
MGM is where I stayed last. I would definitely rather stay there then the other two. There is a cheap eats food court at MGM which was perfect for 3am pizza and mcdonalds. But there are also nicer restaurants there too. We did a Gordon Ramsey restaurant food day once, he has a burger place at Planet Holywood, a pub at Caesars, and a steak restaurant at Paris.
There's this restaurant called "Dick's last resort" at Excalibur, it's a weird concept, but the servers essentially talk smack the entire time intentionally. www.excalibur.com/restaurants/dicks_last_resort.aspx

Thanks for the recs I'm looking for stuff to do in the area around the MGM (where the tourney is taking place). Favorite buffets, restaurants (entrees in the $15-30 price range), bars, etc. We don't plan on clubbing or pool lounging (I burn like a mofo).
H has never been, and he's weirded out by me thinking we don't need a rental car. I went to Vegas once, about five years ago, so I have a general feel of what we'll do, but since it's been awhile I thought you guys would have a better idea of things.
No rental car is needed. Take the bus, or tram to get up the strip.
My favorite buffet ever is the one at the Wynn. It's a little more expensive. But SOOO GOOD. There's also the network of buffets where you can buy the 24 hour pass. I've never done that, but my boss does it every time she goes to vegas and I think she was there 3-4 times this year. www.totalrewards.com/microsites/las-vegas/buffet-of-buffets/
It's been a long time since I've been, so I don't have anything of substance to add. I just wanted to say that I'm jealous of this trip. You guys will have a blast!

You're going to pay a crazy amount in parking fees. Cabs are cheap if you really want to go somewhere off the strip or even the other end of the strip.
If you walk across to Mandalay Bay they've got some great restaurants and even the nicer ones have great happy hour deals. There is certainly plenty to eat at MGM too. If you wanna grab a cheap show we've gone to Tix4tonight and got cheap tickets to comedy shows. You can get tickets to the larger shows too but they're still pretty pricey.

Yeah, don't rent a car. Use the monorail or walk. We stayed at a Wyndham resort on my Dad's timeshare, so that won't help you. But we liked the Bellagio, the Venetian, and J has stayed at the Luxor before (that's pretty reasonable price-wise).
You should watch the Las Vegas episode of Tripping Out with Alie and Georgia (the Cooking Channel chicks), they have some great recs for awesome food and fun/funky places to stay.
Ditty everyone else on the rental car. I have never known anyone to rent a car in Vegas. Everything is very walkable. There is a free tram from the Monte Carlo to the Bellagio. No need to pay for the monorail unless you want to go to the very north end where Circus Circus is. (I would suggest not going there)
Word of advice for MGM & NYNY. They are very touristy hotel/casinos. This equates to them being super busy. We stay at the Monte Carlo and love it.
