The last time H or I did anything like this, we were so insulted. His boss at the time was a wealthy man, as in, my husbands job was to care for this mans jet and helicopter. Well, this guy bought a brand new jet not terribly long after DH began to work with him. DH captured a really cool picture of the plane as boss was flying away (2 photos) and because of the paint scheme that the guy had chosen for it, it made the pictures even cooler. Well, we had the photos professionally printed and framed and gave them to him for his birthday\Christmas (same time basically). Shortly after, DH discovered the pictures tossed in a box in a storage unit where they kept other unwanted (and some quite expensive) things. He pulled them out after a couple of years of looking at them and we had DD's pictures printed and reframed in them. Rude
ETA: I really WISH I had a boss that I wanted to give a gift to. In the past I have had bosses like this and did give them something small to show my appreciation.
Yes my boss is the best and gives us the best gifts. She collects Byer's choice carolers so a bunch of us chipped in to get her a few. Last year she gave me a Michael Kors wallet.
I don't get my boss a gift. But what does your boss like? I think something like a nice reusable coffee mug and a Starbucks gc would be nice. Or maybe just bake him/her something.
I usually do something small with some sort of chocolate and then something personal to them based on their likes or hobbies. My last boss loved hot chocolate so i got her some local hot cocoa and one of those gold monogram mugs from Anthro and she loved it as well as a card.
This year I'm making some baked goods and putting them in some cute jars I found for my co-workers and my boss with a card. Nothing fancy.
Last year she hosted a party at her house and we just did secret Santa. This year we decided as a group not to exchange and just do lunch together. I'll probably bake something though and give that out as gifts.
I typically give my team of direct reports and my boss the same thing - either a huge box of community snacks or individual gifts of office supplies the company doesn't provide for their desks/offices - tissues, aspirin, tide stain stick, hand sanitizer, lint roller, pens, fun post-its etc etc
It's not necessary for my staff to give me anything. A card with a hand written note is always appreciated.
Same. Although last year one of the ladies on my team sent me a bottle of cocktail sauce from St. Elmo's in Indianapolis. Totally unexpected but very much appreciated.
In the past we did a collection. We bought my last asshole boss a framed NY Yankee print. I was fired three days after Christmas. My current boss, I don't get anything usually. I may buy him a bottle of Ketel One. He sent is an entire Christmas honey baked dinner.
When I worked for my dad, they used to buy him a gift card for a golf store or beer. He never expected anything but he was a great boss.
"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion." - Unknown
Our manager always takes us to dinner and usually gets us a small gift. He and his wife love to go out to eat so we'll all pitch in and get him a gift card.
Yes always. Nothing huge, this year I got her a throw that was only about $30. My boss is very good to me and I adore her. She is the best I've ever had and she treats me better than any boss I've ever had so yes, I am happy to give her something.
Our team gives her gifts for bosses' day and her birthday. We also sent her just because flowers recently and she was so touched and appreciative. Obviously she is special to our entire team.
