"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
This is an absolute atrocity. The taliban are so.....i don't even know where to start.
What concerns me though is that somehow NATO will use this as a means to justify further involvement with the Taliban via Pakistan/Afghanistan/Iraq/etc and honestly, we don't have a clue what we are doing. There have been thousands of people, including children, killed as a result of NATO involvement already and what did it do? Scattered the Taliban, created new civil wars and made things more dangerous for many people.
Awful, just awful. “These terrorists are enemies of Pakistan, enemies of Islam and enemies of humanity.” Absolutely true...
That said, does anyone have any reading materials on combating/relating to terrorism? Perhaps from scholarly terrorism experts? I'd like to get more insight on how countries/people are dealing with terrorists. Or what experts believe to be the best way to approach them, etc. Any book recommendations??
what were they seeking to accomplish? more terrorism & frightening kids from attending schools? Sheer emotional pain & loss? Making some sort of statement?
A bunch of dead kids at a school due to a shooter? This could be America. Humans are animals. Yet Pakistan will probably do something about this atrocity and America just shrugs when our children are slaughtered at their school desks.
LONDON (Reuters) - Pakistani teenager Malala Yousafzai, joint winner of this year's Nobel peace prize for her education campaign work, said she was heartbroken by the news that at least 126 people, mostly children, had been killed in a Taliban attack on a school in northwest Pakistan on Tuesday.
Malala, 17, was shot in the head on a school bus by the Taliban in 2012 and won global acclaim for her passionate advocacy of women's right to education.
"I am heartbroken by this senseless and cold-blooded act of terror in Peshawar that is unfolding before us," Malala, who now lives in central England, said in a statement.
"Innocent children in their school have no place in horror such as this. I condemn these atrocious and cowardly acts and stand united with the government and armed forces of Pakistan whose efforts so far to address this horrific event are commendable."
A Taliban spokesman said the hardline Islamist movement was responsible for Tuesday's attack when gunmen stormed the school in Peshawar, saying it was in response to a major army operation against the insurgents in the tribal areas. [ID:nL3N0U030R]
"I, along with millions of others around the world, mourn these children, my brothers and sisters - but we will never be defeated," Malala said.

Fucking horrible.
There is a huge difference in the cause of the shootings.
In America we have a systemic problem that is difficult to tease out and solve because the contributing factors are what level of gun ownership is permissible, how much security should we have on school campuses, why don't we have better mental health services available to the mentally disturbed, etc.
This was a terrorist attack on a school in retaliation for Malala being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on Monday - for standing up to the Taliban (who responded with an attack on the very thing Malala was standing up for - education for boys and girls in Peshwar).
And Pakistan continues to shrug their shoulders when women and girls are terrorized by the Taliban. So suggesting they, unlike America, will respond to this and do something about it where we shake our heads is ... well naive is the nicest term I can come up with but I'm sure there is a better word.
