EDIT for APP users: Lila Grace or Mia Claire
Some info: DD's name is Elle Sophia (we call her Elle, not Ellie) So while Elle is not that popular it's pretty close to all the popular Ellas... and Sophia is obviously very popular. So we don't necessarily mind a name if it's popular. We have a long german sounding last name that begins with Kn sound
Dh thinks we need to go with a shorter first name, probably at most two syllables because our last name is so long. I love the names Caroline and Charlotte but based on them being to long and our geographic location those are out. We have two nieces name Eve and Lily. Is Lila wierd because of Lily? They live 600 miles away. I'd prefer a name that we wouldn't use a nick name for.
So which name do you prefer? any suggestions?
Naming girl # 2 is hard. DD was so easy, we've had her name selected before she was conceived.

I love Mia. I like Lila, but we know three and they are all spelled differently (Lylah, Lilah, Lyla - so all different from yours as well) so that would annoy me. I also think Mia is a better sib set with Elle - I am tongue-tied when I try to say Elle and Lila.
Is it bad that I still want to suggest Piper for every MMM's future DDs?
I prefer Lila to Mia, and I think cousins named Lily and Lila are fine.
And the no nickname thing just takes persistence on your part to make sure people use the full name. My DS's name is uncommon but can be shortened to a very common NN. Several teachers when he was an infant tried to call him only by his nickname, but we asked specifically to use his full name and now everyone in the school knows him by his full name.

I like Lila better, but I'd pick Mia so it doesn't turn into a tongue twister with your older DD's name.
I agree on it being hard to name a second daughter! We had so much trouble picking DD2's name, but we picked DD1's name the day we found out she was a girl!
Also, (just a random comment, not trying to change your mind) -- nicknames will definitely happen no matter what. DD2 is Anna, and do you want to know what we call her the majority of the time? Banna or Banna Bee (as in, Anna Banna). From a Music Together Lullaby.

Hmmm, I'm an Anna and I have never had any nicknames in school. Family pet names are something else, but no teacher or new friend has tried a nn on me. Ditto for DD and DH's names, so I don't think nicknames are inevitable. Certain names feel more nn-proof to me than others.
Also--I thought your last name was 2 syllables? Am I reading it wrong?
lol, no you're right it's two syllables. The no long first names is more Dh than me. I think it just seems like a mouthful of letters. Especially compared to dd's name. I keep telling DH, it will be hard to find a name as short as dd's name sounds!

Thanks for your thoughts everyone!
I know nicknames can be inevitable, but I think if we pick a long first name DH will immediately start calling her something else and I don't really want that.
Hmmm I hadn't thought so much about Lila and Elle being a tongue twister. Maybe you are right. I think Elle and Lila is harder to say than, Lila and Elle. Definitely something to think about! Lila was my favorite name and Mia was DHs pick.
