Carmike theaters are already refusing to show it. Can't say I don't blame them. It's not expected to do well anyways, so not really lost business for the chain.
I feel like high-as-a-kite Rogen should have just filmed it for youtube or something. I don't know who keeps green-lighting his crazy story ideas, but they should just stop.

He's on the Comeback on HBO right now, and it makes me cringe watching him.
I don't know if James Franco and Seth Rogen were on a binger one night, and thought this would be a brilliant idea, but that seems to be the only explanation.
I heard on the radio this morning there are threats against movie theaters who decide to air the movie. Sony is giving all theaters the option of pulling it from their theaters and not showing it.
I don't think Team America meant to say "we didn't kill the real Kim Jong Il, just an alien." They meant "Kim Jong Il is so fucking crazy he's actually an alien, and we killed him."
I can't believe anyone thought this would be a good idea.
Seriously. In what world is a comedy (or really any genre) about the fictional assassination of a real head of state even remotely appropriate, regardless of whether that leader is a psychopath or not.
I can't believe that if someone in NK made a film about assassinating POTUS, there wouldn't be an absolute uproar here.

This makes so much more sense than the way that I read the synopsis.
As Autumn said, I agree that it's not good to back down in light of threats. But, I can't imagine that anyone would be LOLing at a movie played in NK where they were joking about killing BO. It's not ok to make terroristic threats, but the movie was a stupid idea in the first place. It's a whole lot of awful on both sides.
And the bottom line for me is that it doesn't even look funny, so it's a whole lot of trouble for nothing.

wait, you really think this was a terrorist threat? REALLY?
I meant the threats of "We'll blow up the movie theatre if you air this." Sorry if I wasn't clear.
Does no one remember Death of a President? People were critical, and there was some pushback, but it wasn't like the country was "all up in arms" or at "can you imagine the response" levels of outrage.
It's not necessarily right or fair, but with TA, that's par for what Trey Parker and Matt Stone do on South Park already. Insensitive, yes, but also (somewhat) insightful. Granted, TA wasn't heavy on the insight.
Interview just sounds...stupid. And, yeah, they're trying too hard.
But all of this probably will garner the movie more attention than it would have gotten originally.

Seth Rogen is the only guy on my list. Well, wait, maybe Ira Glass or Mos Def, but probably not even them. He is such a hilarious bear of a dude. Exactly my type.
And this is Amurrrrica! We get to make whatever movies we want!

It is not a movie I would pay full price for but will probably check it out when it hits Redbox. The threats against the theaters are making me uneasy.

Has no one here seen The Comeback? Lisa Kudrow is in a movie where she simulates a BJ with SR.
Seth rogan is hit or miss for me, and this movie looks like a total miss. But it could be JF that is clouding my judgement, because I think he's a creepy motherfucker.
I never saw Team America, because I don't find South Park funny at all (flame away!).
I don't give a flying fuck if the NK leader doesn't find this funny. He is a shit pig of epic proportions.
Seth Rogan was on the Colbert Report the other night talking about the movie. He basically said this. And that they did consider changing it to a fictional character but then thought, hey who are we protecting here? Which is true but this whole movie was probably not the best idea.
The CEO of Sony was just doing an interview on NPR. He said they are actively trying to find distributors for the movie. He insisted that they had no choice but to not release the movie ok n the 25th because the theatres wouldn't take the movie. Seth Rogen is a big funny cuddly bear and And James Franco is a creeper weirdo who happens to be funny sometimes. Oh and ok ne more vote for Pineapple Express 2
