Hey girls. Got some jeans back from the tailor today and they're different than what I'm used to. With my old tailor I assume they used to just cut the pants and then somehow reattached the original hem. (...maybe they just made it look like they did?)
The new place did this thing where they folded the jeans up onto themselves and somehow bonded them together on the inside so the original hem actually is the original hem.
Two questions. 1. Has anyone had a hem done like this, and if so does the bonded part stay together or does it loosen up over time and have to be redone? 2. I can sort of see through the jean to where the bonded him is attached. Not really see through it, but it's like a ridge there so I wonder if it will fade out quicker in that spot and be noticeable.
This is inside the jean - the "bonded" part:
This is the "ridge" I'm talking about:
Think this will hold up or have I just ruined my one pair of maternity jeans that I love?
ETA: Sorry for the extra questions thrown in there. I'm just confused!

1. No. 2. Yeah, you can definitely see the indentation. How much did you pay? If it was anything over $15, I'd be disappointed. Maybe just eat the money and take it to another tailor?
Do you live by a Nordstrom? I had so many bad incidents with my local tailor that I recently decided to take everything to Nordstrom instead. Their alteration services are similarily priced and the CS is outstanding.

The jeans aren't technically ruined because they did not cut the fabric. If you don't like it, you can have it redone. I've had hems done like that before and I don't particularly care for it because the bottom can be a little bulky. It's not "wrong" but I don't care for it if the jeans are being hemmed more than an inch or so.
