One of my step sisters is 21/22 (not sure, exactly). Yesterday she posted on Facebook that she is happy for two reasons:
1. For the very first time, she is going to be ringing in the new year whilst employed (meaning she has never held a job for a year straight) and, 2. She has been pre-approved for a mortgage so she'll get to start house hunting in the new year.
I don't know her very well (we've never lived together, only ever see each other every few years at holidays), but I want to yell out "DON'T DO IT!" regarding buying a house.
AMC has been playing the musical White Christmas on and off all week. I have watched it every night. Folks can keep their It's A Wonderful Life, give me Bing and Rosemary, I love White Christmas!
I am such an octogenarian trapped in a 34 year old's body.
There are 22 Starbucks locations w/in a 10 mile radius of my house.
I started a 6 day course of steroids for back/neck/headache pain this morning. The side effects look really crappy. I just hope it makes the pain go away.

I had dental surgery on Friday and totally underestimated how much time it would take me to recover (as well as how swollen my whole face would be). I'm finally almost back to normal, and it's such a relief to do things like walking the dog without feeling like I've just run a marathon.
H accepted a job that pays a little more than half what he used to make. I am excited for him to start his new career in something he's really interested in but money is going to be really tight for few years. :/
I've been obsessing over the idea of going back to school (again) this week. I am really leaning toward doing it. I feel like that makes me a little crazy, but so much of me is saying "you only get one life, why spend it doing something you're always going to be struggling to do". I may stop obsessing in a few days, because this tends to be pretty cyclical for me, but one of these times I'm just going to take steps to DO IT.
I am feeling every emotion available today. Sadness that it's my favorite students last day working before she graduates, in credulous judgment toward the dip shit move for my sister-in-law's making, excitement getting a ton of good work done today before I get to go take my student assistants out for lunch, immense gratitude towards some good news we got this week, everything.
Mostly I'm sad that I can't share all of this over a bottle of wine with my best local friend because she moved to Colorado yesterday.

I just had an interview at a lab in Milwaulkee yesterday and I felt really good about it. It sounds like a awesome program. If I get it DH and I will probably have to do long distance again which I really don't want to do.

I am glad you are doing better! Dental surgery can be just awful.

White Christmas is the best Christmas movie, hands down.

H's family is so frustrating with gifts. H's mom just told us we should only get SIL money for a trip she's going on in January because she has no money and already can't afford this trip. She also said we should only give money for FIL because he wants $$$ snowshoes that he's going to buy anyways.
I really, really hate giving money to close family and if we're just turning Christmas into a money exchange, I'd rather just skip gifts.
I can't believe it's only Thursday. I feel like this week is dragging. I realized I have about 4 to do / to buy lists related to Christmas Eve & Day food, cleaning etc. I need to combine them into one to be sure I've captured everything.
I'm looking forward to the weekend. Friday night H and I are going to a beer tasting, swinging by Chick-Fil-A to see "Santa Cow" and then getting dinner out. That night's we'll drink wine and watch A Charlie Brown Christmas. Saturday I'm baking Christmas cookies with my mom and that night H and I are going to the Ugly Christmas Sweater party. Sunday Night we are doing a 3 mile charity walk through a park all set up with Christmas light displays.

DO IT! I'll be your cheerleader. If I can do it, you can do it. It'll be easier than you think.
MH has repeatedly mentioned that he likes the Ginger Altoids, so I want to get them for his Christmas stocking. I can't find them anywhere and Google tells me that they're probably been discontinued.
But I can't find ANY kind of ginger mints to replace them. Apparently there's a Newman's Own version but I haven't found them in Shop Rite, Target, or Walmart. Has anyone here spotted them in a store?
I think Trader Joe's has their own version, so I may have to go there to get them.

Try Cost Plus World Market. They always have that kind of stuff or look up where in your area sells the Ginger People line.

I brought my car (2008 Prius) to the dealer for its 90k service today. While waiting I had to shoo away several salesmen with brochures for the 2015 Prius. It almost ruined the quiet waiting area and free coffee---talk to me in another 50k miles, guys.
