Days are winding down to get it all ready to go. How is it all coming along?
For me, I am really excited about this. I'm having fun mixing $$$$$ dates (Maroon 5 concert) with free dates (Friday concerts in town).
Just have to figure out how to tie it all together with notes. I am overthinking that part because I know he won't care... but, what paper!? And how cutesy should I be?! lol
There is a blog post somewhere (Shannon Brown, I think?) that talked about it and showed the presentation. I'd had it bookmarked for awhile, but hermione brought it up last month and a bunch of us decided it was the year to do it!
Our dates will be: January - ice skating February - Pottery class March - Maroon 5 concert April - Dinner and a movie May - Go Ape treetop adventure June - Drive in movie (OR shooting range... undecided) July - Paddle boats in Tidal Basin August - National Harbor Friday Night Live concert September - Picnic lunch, hike and overnight stay October - Go Karts November - How well do you know your husband/wife books and 6 pack of beer December - Christmas Lights
I'll be doing the presentation that is like the OP (yellow envelopes with a month labeled). Maybe in a basket. I just have to figure out how to explain what it is.
I gave it to DH for our anniversay at the end of November. He loved it! I did the manilla envelopes with labels. I tied them all together with pretty ribbon. To explain it, I wrote a letter and placed it on front of the tied up package.
Our dates are (I don't remember the order and don't have the list in front of me):
Art of Video Games Exhibit at a local museum Let's talk (I included the Book of Questions) Local Arcade with old timey games Miniature Golf Movie At Home Movie Cider Mill Christmas Lights Try a New Restaurant Day Trip
Doe he open all the envelopes at Christmas, or save the surprise for each month?
One a month. The envelope should include everything needed for the date. So for our movie date I threw in a GC to the movies. For our let's try a new restaurant date I threw in cash. For the museum exhibit I threw in the tickets.

I was thinking yesterday that I'm going to do this for DH for Christmas because I have NOTHING for the man except for a new Sonicare and a DVD of Firefly that I got for about $7. LOL.
I'm not sure I'm going to go ahead and buy everything now. I may buy a month ahead and slip the gift card or whatever in the envelope.
Can anyone else that's done it share ideas???
I'm thinking:
Kayaking A trampoline place near us 9 holes of golf (DH is a really good golfer, but I've never been out with him) Christmas lights in Saint Augustine (a close drive for us) Maybe one of those drink wine and paint an artwork places? Or are those better for a group of girlfriends?? A day outing to the place we got married (which is an hour or so away)
I'm so excited to give DH his box! I used manila envelopes with labels, and then found a cool box with a lid on it to store them all in. I wrote a letter to put on top to explain it all.
I'm doing: January - skiing February - dinner and a movie (haven't seen a movie since A was born!) March - at home date night (moves, board games, take out) April - Pick a fun home improvement project (I included a Lowe's GC) May - Outlet shopping June - weekend away for our anniversary (first time to leave A overnight!) July - golfing - either the driving range or mini golf August - kayaking/beach day September - at home date - fire pit and beer October - redbox move night, snacks November - at home "spa" night December - breakfast and xmas shopping

I gave this to H for our anniversary a couple years ago. So this year I'm doing "family name's new year" and mixing it with dates out and at home and some family outings since its out first Xmas / new year with DS. I'm exited because all the dates are different from last time so it feels fresh.
