I have a romanticized ideal of DH and I wrapping presents together while sipping hot cocoa and listening to Christmas carols by the tree. In reality it's usually just me at the last minute with paper and tape spread all over the living room floor. Now with kids it's even more likely to just be me wrapping while he's at work and I can grab a spare minute while T sleeps. What do you do? Family wrapping party? Just you? Both of you but not at the same time?

This year, it's all me. In years past, I've gone to wrapping parties for the smaller, lighter items. Everybody brings some paper and trimmings and a bottle of wine. It's fun because you get to use everybody else's paper, so you end up with lots of different patterns. It helps the monotony for sure. But, you have to lug all your stuff to and from somebody else's house, so there's that.
Hah. I wrap the presents. My H doesn't wrap my presents or take them out of the shipping boxes they arrive in. He just gives me the Amazon boxes and hands me a stocking with a clementine in it. I really want him to at least sit with me while I wrap them this year and listen to christmas carols.

How do you have such fun friends? I need to make some friends.

DH is somewhat of a grinch and I LOOOOVE Christmas. He complains even when he's not the one doing it. Like for example, I make too many cookies. As if there is such a thing as too much cookies. Anyway, I do most of the wrapping. I wrap for the kids and DH, and my family. He has to wrap for his family and one secret santa and me, which is a total of 5 people. I wrap for about 12-15. I try to do a little each night so I continue to enjoy it and not hate it. So far so good.

It was a lot of work to find these types of friends after having a kid. Pretty much all of my non-industry friends are from a meetup group. I tried several groups until I found one that just clicked. I adore them.
Plus, well, I'm awesome. Our kind just gravitates towards each other.

(Sorry to thread jack and make this a therapy session) I get sad because I put it SO much effort in our last neighborhood to do these things. I went to every meet up, I formed a book club, joined a photography club etc etc. And then we moved. I know literally no one in Queens (thanks to therealmc moving ) and I don't feel like making an effort because I know we aren't going to live here forever. I have these grand dreams of making all sorts of friends when we finally "settle down" and I'm going to be so depressed if it doesn't happen!
Anyway, the moral of the story is I would fucking love a gift wrapping party.
It's all me. He would wrap them if he were home. He enjoys wrapping. I'm a jerk and like the presents wrapped a certain way with perfect bows, though so I do it all.

(kiss) (hug) I'd wrap presents with you. Although, it's probably easier to do it in Atlanta when my rich friends have rooms devoted to wrapping gifts. Jerks.
H, he is a perfectionist when it comes to wrapping gifts. His pet peeve is when he has to wrap something soft and can't find a proper box for it. He also has opinions about the quality and appearance of wrapping paper.

Me. I purchase, and wrap everything. I need to delegate, I hate it. I don't mind shopping but I detest wrapping. DH's back is still hurt so he is pretty useless, I need to buy myself something nice from santa and wrap it up.

We do it together but he is a great wrapper and I suck so he wraps hard ones and important ones, like teacher gifts, Bags are too quick for the kids to open so we don't bag their gifts.
All me, but I love doing it. I get help from this girl, but that usually means the tape is covered in fur. Perfectly adorned but slightly fuzzy packages

We actually do it together. I normally make him do all the odd shaped presents. We spend a night or two doing it after the girls are in bed.
He is probably going to have to go over to his parents house sometime in the next week to put together the kitchen we got for them (an upgrade of the one we have had for a couple years now) and the barbie dreamhouse. I actually don't envy him of that job. That will probably take awhile!
I come up with the gift ideas, buy the gifts, wrap the gifts. Half the time, my H is just as surprised by what's inside a box as the recipient is. I also do all the decorating, any cooking, etc. I bring Christmas.
It's awesome to do it all alone.....
This is me too. Although this year my H carried the Christmas tree into the house with the help of our neighbor and picked up the wawa gift cards to give to the daycare ladies. Oh and he will help lick the cookie bowl/spoon.
He's improved though, before B was born since we alternated celebrating at my parent's and his, he wouldn't let me put up a tree or decorations. I called him The Grinch.
