I don't watch regularly, but whenever I do I always laugh and enjoy the commentary. And while I'm excited to see what he'll do for the mainstream, I feel like he's too intelligent to just do dumbed-down (but funny) late night stuff. Or maybe he won't and that will be a good thing.
I am doubly bummed since we don't have cable, and CBS doesn't believe in the Internet. Maybe this will motivate me to set up an antenna, or give in and get cable.
Is he going to still be "Steven Colbert" when he moves to CBS? If he doesn't, isn't that going to totally fuck with people's brains?
I sort of wish The Daily Show would try to be more funny and less, I dunno, preachy?
DH and I are so sad about this. We're going to try his late night show, but in general we don't enjoy those shows, and I don't even know if Stephen can make us change our mind on the traditional 11:30 late show.
I think we're going to have to start borrowing my sister's Comcast account and start watching John Oliver's weekly HBO show. it may fill part of the void Colbert is leaving. And we still have John Stewart. He can't leave us.

I'm actually not since he's not going to disappear from TV.
Colbert Report was started as a parody of the O'Reilly Factor. I think he's been very good at what he does, and I think he offered excellent social commentary on a certain segment of the media. But really, a decade is long enough to parody Bill O'Reilly.
I'm glad he's getting to move on and do something else. He's so talented.

No, he won't.
I think some people who only know of Colbert from the Colbert Report will be thrown at first, but I'm sure they'll adjust. He's got excellent comedy chops, and I hope people will no longer see him as a one-trick pony.
I will miss his show, although I'm interested to see Larry Wilmore's new show and eventually Colbert on Late Night once he starts. I think I read he'll start in August, anyone know for sure when?
Not devastated, but it will be sad to see it go. I'm irrationally excited about his takeover of Letterman though. I have no idea what he's going to pull out of his hat.
And I'm wondering if Larry Wilmore is going to off him in tonight's final episode.
I will add that I loved it when he brought out former guests and stars to wish him well and sing the song. And I was thrilled to see my favorite NYT columnist Paul Krugman in the crowd!
Also James Franco was there. I was like hrmm....he needs some positive publicity today.
I hope North Korea doesn't take out their frustrations on Colbert.
