This may be long so bear with me...I'm so frustrated. DS2 is 10 weeks old.
I nursed for 4 weeks and I noticed him getting really fussy, you couldn't put him down and then he started screaming at the boob. They ran a culture on his diaper and it came back positive for blood. I decided to go to Nutramigen bc thats what we ended up with DS1 and it made a huge difference.
We were on Nutramigen for 3 weeks and he was doing great, sleeping long 9 hr stretches at night, napping during the day and happy all around. He was having lots of congestion and some ecxema those were the only allergy signs that were still there until he pooped and there was blood in his diaper. So we went to the pedi and they moved us to Puramino.
We are now about 3 weeks into Puramino and his face cleared up but he has become super fussy, his naps are non existent, most of them 15 min with him waking up screaming pulling up his legs. His night sleep went from 9 hr stretches to 6 hr stretches and his poops are really mucousy. The pedi referred us to a GI that can't see us for a month. Pedi also told me to continue on the Puramino.
Did anyone have issues like this when they went to an elemental formula? I hate seeing him in pain, he is so tired during the day that he ends up falling asleep at every bottle after 2 oz. I am just so frustrated.

With DS we had great success with Neocate. It was the first elemental formula we tried (and the only one covered by our health insurance) so we really lucked out.
DD2 had a lot of issues that we suspected (and the GI as well) were MSPI (that was not our issue as it turned out). We did not find an elemental formula that worked for her. Eventually, through sheer process of elimination, we found a corn free formula that was amazing for her. It wasn't an easy road to get there though. This is the formula we used if you're interested (it is soy based and listed as a Toddler formula but our doctor gave us the go ahead to try it): naturesonedirect.com/orsoyfo.html
I don't if that info helps at all, but I just wanted to wish you good luck. I know how miserable it can be trying to find something that will make your little one happy and healthy. (((HUGS)))
