For my birthday, she created her own idea of what she should get me. She convinced DH to take her to Target to get all the items on her list, and presented me with them. They included a new umbrella, knit gloves, and a pair of earrings.
She has decided to do the same for DH for Christmas. In her mind, it is a crying shame that he is the only one in the family without rain boots. So this weekend we're braving WalMart to buy him a pair.
I can't wait to see what she comes up with for his birthday.
I used to always take my little sister to the Dollar Store or CVS the week before Christmas and let her buy stuff for everyone. Kids think of the weirdest gifts.

That is adorable!!
I always have DD1 do this for people's birthdays. Last year she was insistent that DH needed a green sponge (like, a kitchen sponge) for his birthday. Because green is his favorite color. Of course.
I secretly wish DH would have her do this for me because I love the adorable assortments of random crap she comes up with!
That's awesome! I took dd1 to Dollar Tree earlier this week and she bought dh a light up squishy thing, me a miniature basketball and dd2 a baby "because she loves them." She even convinced me that her bff needed a giant sucker. She was sure to ask that if it would make her sick first (bff has a life threatening peanut allergy).
