Dumb question: do you pronounce Iain "EE-un"? I have zero experience with Gaelic pronunciation and the names always throw me for a loop until someone tells me how to say it.

That child is forever going to have issues with how people pronounce and try to spell his name, but congrats on the no-gd.
I understand the concern. I've thought about it. He can always choose to go by his middle name if it bothers him too much. It's by no means a made up name or spelling. It's just not as common in the US.
Great name! It's H's name. I will say though that his mom grew up in Scotland and spoke fluent Gaelic and she chose to spell H''s name Ian to avoid it getting butchered since she planned on raising him in the U.S. It still is hard for some people though. LOL . It's such a simple name but people struggle with it. He always gives my names for reservations etc.

Yes, ee-un. It sounds 100% better and different though spoken with a Scottish accent IMO. It has a rolling sound to it. H's mom has passed and I miss hearing her say his name with her accent.
