I know you ladies give great kitty advice. We are leaving today and won't be back till Friday. Kitty is staying here and I'm so so sad that were basically leaving him alone for a week. Mil is coming on Tuesday and friday to replentish his food and change litter. Is that enough? I feel like a bad cat mommy and dh is making fun of me, of course.

My cats eat wet food, so the pet sitter comes twice a day. We used to have a friend come once a day before we found our pet sitter. He would make sure the water was good, feed the cats, scoop litter boxes, and hang out with them a bit.
I would be anxious if there wasn't a visit once a day.
He will be fine! We were gone for about the same time in Jan and had the apartment staff come in once a day to feed them and fill up the water. They didn't scoop the litter box, but we have 3 and they were totally fresh when we left. Make sure there is plenty of food and water and that the water isn't in a spillable container. You could leave a few extra bowls of water too if you think he might spill it. Cats are very self sufficient so he will be fine. Oh and make sure you put away anything he could possibly get into/eat/destroy. He might get bored or upset and do something he wouldn't normally do!
We left our cat for 2 weeks once and we had a friends kids come and check on her 4x to do the litter box and make sure she had food/water and she was fine. Just VERY cuddly when we got back.
I leave mine with an ABUNDANCE of food and fresh water...and clean kitty boxes. If we are gone more than 2 days, we will have someone come check/replenish food and water every 2-3 days.
The house looks like a cat mine field with all the water and food bowls.
Our kitty is fine when we leave him. We have someone come over every 2-3 days to replenish food and water and hopefully give snuggles, but that's it. I think he appreciates the break from the dog, who gets boarded.
