Yes my main go to is usually fantasy and sci fi. I also greatly prefer fiction to non fiction. I'm trying to branch out in 2015 I already have a handful of non fictions I've been meaning to read and I'm also trying to move away from YA.
I think I'm fairly good at branching out. There are a handful of genres I pretty much never read (sports nonfiction, humor, romance, to name a few) but I don't limit myself too much otherwise. I definitely have a type, but I'm not exclusive.

I do tend to stick to my comfort zone. I read mainly cozy mysteries and chick lit, but sometimes I'm adventurous and read other things.
I'm actually torn between wanting to do this Ultimate Reading Challenge 2015 using books that are outside my comfort zone and trying to do it with as many books I already own as possible.

thank you for that challenge link! I am so doing this!
I think I've branched out more this year than any other year. I typically read either romance or fiction novels, occasionally thriller/suspense. This year I've also read more young adult and horror.

I think I tend to stick to my two genres, 1900ish murder mysteries and fantasy, although I have read fantasy in quite a while. Does The Discovery Of Witches count as a fantasy?
I don't care for non-fiction, although I did read a a "true account" of H.H Holmes, Devil In The White City, but then again was about the mass murder during Chicago's First World Fair, so mystery.
I definitely revert back to fantasy most often, but I read a lot of books and always have different genres on my TBR list. Looking through 2014, I see
fantasy general fiction historical fiction science fiction non-fiction: science non-fiction: culture non-fiction: economics non-fiction: memoir non-fiction: dog training
dorothyinAus, maybe we could do check-ins for a challenge like that?
