This is the fourth time I've watched at least part of SOM in the past 2 days. Yesterday I watched the Carrie Underwood version for a few minutes with DD. She loved it, which inspired me to watch the whole Julie Andrews version after she went to bed (after I turned off the sucky Carrie Underwood version, LOL). I woke up sick today so instead of being productive and limiting screen time, DD and I watched about 2/3 of the original movie until it was time for her nap. She squealed and danced through the whole thing. Tonight DD heard the music of the sing-along and yelled "yay!" and started wiggling, so we're watching it again, at least until bedtime. Every time there is a song she screams and points at the screen.

This is one of those movies I loved when I was a kid but got completely confused by the random fleeing at the end that had nothing to do with the singing and love story. I think I was like 20 before I learned that it takes place during war times.
H and I went on the sound of music tour in Salzburg a couple of years ago. I think this is actually the first time I've seen the movie since then. Now I can be all "I went there! I saw that!" and my H can go "Uh huh. Me too."
LOL this is what's happening in our living room too, except it's my husband being like "We were there! And there! Look DD, let me get my iPad and show you my pictures of me there!" She's like "ok daddy now let me eat this cheese over here."
I've been singing these songs to DD since she was teeny tiny, this is awesome.

My favorites are the goodnight song and the lonely goatherd.
A watched with me for a bit. She loved the songs, but was slightly confused by the commercials at first (she mostly watches pbs and Netflix). "Mom, why is this part about blood sugar? It is not interesting."

I would love to do that. I was just watching thinking - wow these places are gorgeous.
This is where I brag that I was Maria in our high school production! I love love SOM, and have sung Ds the songs since before he was born.
My favorite song is So Long Farewell or Edelweiss. And the most fun to sing on stage was either Doe a Deer or The Lonely Goatherd. Dh and I also did the tour in Salzberg, one of my favorite days ever, I am such a dork.
