We toyed with using my maiden name as a first name. I love surnames as middle names (and first names, clearly).
Everyone in my husband's family has surname middle names. We broke that trend with C, but already have a family surname picked for new kid's middle name (we just don't have a first yet).
I love it and think your name would work for a boy or a girl. My maiden name became my middle after I married but it's got a few too many syllables to pair with most of the names on our baby list.
We have a family name as Leo's middle name. It basically should be our last name, but H's grandpa was adopted after his father died. So Whitson, now Leo's middle name, is the blood family name.
