3 days of work for me this week - Today, tomorrow, and back on Friday. I have a dr apt with my specialist next Monday though, so 3 day weekend. And my sister and her family flew in for a couple days from CA, so I'm excited to see them.
The Secret Santa reveal thread is making me so excited for Christmas!! I will post my pics when I get home tonight.

My mother facetimed me this morning to show me her tooth broke (front) and she had to cancel Christmas at her house... No drama there. Her dentist had no appts but I called around and found a walk in dentist, hope they can help.
Taj was already having an unsettled night last night, AND THEN the smoke alarm in our room went off at 3:30 for no apparent reason. I had already hardly slept, and he was totally awake after that (of course). I took him up to DH at 4:40, which I feel bad about (I usually try not to take him up before 5:30). But man, I needed that last stretch of sleep!
I'm SO EXCITED to open the elf gifts from earlybird as soon as K gets home from school!
MH installed a water softener this weekend. However, in the process of doing so, he either sprung a leak or discovered a leak from the master bath shower pipes. Only cold water available in that shower. So my options this morning were to use W's bathroom and risk waking him up early... or use the shower in the basement that hasn't been used ever since we moved in 1.5yrs ago. I chose to let my child sleep and use the basement one. I'm going to guess he likely isn't going to get to fixing it until maybe Friday or Saturday. Grrr. At least he is a plumber and knows how to fix it on his own without having to call someone in to do it.

Daycare is having Polar Express day today. I wasn't sure if this meant pjs or not, so I put pjs in her backpack. Mh texted me earlier saying "thank god you put pjs in her bag bc she peed through her jeans. We are the black sheep of that place." And now I just feel bad. I hope she's wearing pjs with everyone else. I feel like I'm always dropping the ball there and I look like a bad mom.
Eta: it is pj day, I just hope they changed her into hers. I wish I didn't have to be at work worrying if my kid is wearing pjs. Sigh.
Our tree is droopy and dying and I don't know what to do about it!!!
Did you cut the bottom couple of inches off the trunk before setting it up? There are also various recipes floating around the internet with stuff you can add to the base water to help them stay fresh, although water should work just fine...
We made salt dough stuff today. Violet's hands are so tiny! I kind of want to get gold paint to do hers, which means a talk to Walmart. Which could mean McD's for lunch. This is actually starting to sound appealing.
Also, he is not ready to potty train because he cries when i put him on the toilet. However, i couldnt keep his diaper and pants on yesterday for the life of me.
Lucas was the same way! I tried enticing him to go pee outside or go pee with daddy or sit on the potty and I'll read a story. Once he got over the potty freak out, he trained pretty easy. Sometimes when he wakes up in the morning (not a morning person) he still freaks out when I put him on the potty.

Edie wants to go to church. I've only ever been to Catholic church. So i was going to take her to my childhood church for xmas eve. But it's far and it'll mess up my perfect xmas eve. So we might go here which is a half mile from my house. The more I read into the website, the better I feel about exposing her to church. www.stpauls-ucc.org/
to clarify, i think it's good that children are exposed to church*, but my internal conflict rips at my guts. they don't know that though.

*ETA: And a lot of other things as well
I have a nice internal conflict too.
I actually would love to find something that could introduce Ada to all religions and especially their history and cultural significance...but I don't imagine that exists.

I don't think it does either @lindy. I haven't decided what to do. 5:30 is such an inconvienient time. I really cherish the family bonding that happens on xmas eve and we'd lose that if we went to church.

we have hopes of starting potty training while on our trip this week. ugh i really was diapers for life but it seems silly to have 2 in diapers come april. I'm dreading potty training big time
I am almost down to my pre-Colin weight (yay!) and saw a client today and the first thing she said to me was "girl you've lost weight!" I am lame but my day is totally made.

Guide me!
We just kept at it. He usually was better if daddy took him or I let him pee outside. I finally got him to poop on the potty by sitting in the floor and reading him a story while he sat on the potty. I don't think I pushed him or trained too early, he was just stubborn about sitting on the potty when he would rather be playing. We also tried to make going potty exciting. If he used the potty we dance and clap and get super excited so he slowly stopped freaking out, and tried hard to pee so we would be excited. Although he still sometimes freaks out about the potty when he is ill or is trying to be difficult.
The CPSE meeting went well. They are looking at starting her 5 days a week as soon as January 15th. There are three locations they are looking at. One is five minutes from our home and at her old DC so that would be amazing. Cross your fingers for an opening!
Emerson is playing with grandma today so I can finish Christmas shopping. I'm going to the outlets and hitting up Starbucks.

I almost murdered Patrick this morning. I cleaned the whole house yesterday, and waited until he had trimmed his hair to deep clean the bathroom. He woke up this morning and I hear the clippers going. Wtf, dude?! Keep your tiny hairs on your head, not on the sink, in the bathtub, or all over the damn floor. I vacuumed while he was taking a bath, because it was pissing me off, know they were there, and I can hear the clippers on again. I'm going to kill him.

It was a rough and really weird night. J woke up 3 times. The first time was around 2. I think the water purifier in the garage woke him up, but he was afraid of the dark and I had to turn his stars back on.
Then 45 minutes later he woke up afraid again. His stars were off and somehow his buzz light year wings from Halloween were flashing very brightly in his closet (which is weird because they randomly turned on and we couldn't get them to work for Halloween)
45 minutes later he woke up again. His damn stars turned off and he was afraid. I had to lay on his floor for about a half hour before he was okay for me to leave
I didn't sleep much between the wake ups, and luckily I was able to sleep in after returning to bed around 5 am.
Were watching this elmo Christmas special on PBS with Ben stiller. He's an elf puppet but isn't he Jewish in real life? We haven't watched Sesame Street in forever. It's a nice change up
I'm so thankful for daycare today. G is cutting her 2 bottom molars and in the 15 minutes before she and DH left for daycare, she had separate freak outs about shoes, water, wiping her chin, and her lunch.

I just spent an hour or so purging random junky toys, oh my gosh it feels so good to have that crap out of the way. Just in time for the onslaught of new toys. Lol. Since Adam is at school he'll never know what I got rid of. Muahahaha.
