Ooooooh monkey bread is a good idea.
We're doing breakfast/brunch the day before with my ILs (bacon, eggs, toast and fruit) so I want to do something different for the 4 of us (DH, me and DDs) for Christmas morning.
I just went to the grocery to grab stuff for a sausage and egg casserole. I also bought to make a spinach casserole too. I've never done anything super special. We typically do pancakes and or waffles on Sunday so I wanted something different.
Just my parents usually come for breakfast Xmas day, so our tradition is an italian frittata. I bake sweet italian sausage links then slice them. I add these to scrambled eggs with a bunch of shredded mozzarella. Really good.
But for kids, I would make a breakfast cake that I often make using cinnamon rolls, chocolate chips, and vanilla pudding mix. It's awesome.
I'm going to make Pioneer Woman's french toast bake/casserole. If it turns out well, I'd like to make it our tradition for Christmas morning. Love that I can prep it the night before and just pop it in the oven while we open gifts in the morning.
We started doing this a few years ago. I love it and it is easy! I also cook some sausage for DH and we eat the oranges from our stockings.
This year I'm making a crescent roll/egg/sausage/cheese breakfast casserole and picking up some pastries from Panera. I'm already looking forward to it!
