Hubby buys a ticket at least once every couple weeks, but I don't think I've bought myself a ticket ever. It just doesn't appeal or occur to me to buy one!
I have purchased four lottery tickets in my life. Maybe five. All because I was just keeping someone else company while they went to purchase a ticket.
Usually only when I see a headline about how big the jackpot is. Otherwise, I don't really think about it. DH will buy a scratch-off once in a while at the vending machine in the grocery store. He actually has a pretty good win rate on those.
At my last full time job, one person used to take up a collection and go in on a bunch of tickets when there was a big jackpot. I always threw in my dollar because on the one-in-a zillion chance that they would win, damned if I was going to be the only person who wasn't in on it.
I usually buy a Powerball when it gets really big. Two years ago I stopped at a gas station on the way home from work and bought a ticket. That night a guy who stopped at that same gas station just 30 minutes after me to buy tickets hit the Powerball. I was a little bitter about that one! So close!

We buy a ticket maybe a couple times of year if it's a big jackpot. I get scratchers a few times a year when we travel. Just a $1 or $2 worth. Not big on gambling but it is fun to dream of winning big sometimes
the weekly lotto? pretty much never. my nana buys the whole family a bunch of scratch off tickets for Christmas every year. so once presents are unwrapped and stockings are opened, we sit around the kitchen table and start scratching off tickets, competing for who wins the most money.
