Can't see the poll but we always do beef tenderloin. For 30+ people. I start saving in June when it's my year to host lol
Omg. I have to be rude and ask what that costs?! We do it for 6 and it is $$$,
Between $300 and $400 depending on the price per pound. Excuse my sobbing. And get this-my MIL hasn't hosted in 10 years because they downsized to a town home. Because of that she buys the meat every year for her sisters. A few years ago I busted in the rotation. But does she buy the meat for me? Noooooooo.
We used to do Ham but one year I had too much red wine and too much ham. Let's just say that is not a great combo to have revisit you. So now we do Turkey.
When we're with my side of the family (mom's side is Italian), Christmas Eve is Feast of the 7 fishes, and Christmas is usually prime rib. When I've hosted, I do beef tenderloin. DH's family usually does beef as well.
Ham with my family for Christmas dinner (lunch) and Bedfor tenderloin roast for supper with just our family. I'm not a big fan of ham, but I'm really looking forward to Christmas supper!
Growing up we usually had turkey and ham, but always ham. Once I was in college, my sister and I started requesting meals that we missed for Christmas, so it was usually lasagna or Mexican food (enchiladas, tamales, rice, beans, and homemade flour tortillas).
MIL is having a turkey smoked for Christmas Eve this year. I'm not excited, but I will eat it. We'll do Christmas brunch at our house with just the three of us - I think I am buying tamales this year instead of making them. Then we will go to my sister's house for dinner that night - I don't know what she is serving, but I am hoping not turkey.

Since I can't get any of the traditional Polish food I grew up woth where I have lived the last 5 years, I started making Beef Wellington. This year I'm making duck as well. Possibly prime rib for H, since we were able to find one small enough (prime rib is wasted on me because I cut off all the fat).
Ugh, ham smells like sweat socks and tastes...what I imagine sweat socks taste like. It's so foul.
I'd pick turkey, but it's not my call this year. Family wants ham! My mom is making me an individual sized lasagna as a replacement. I'm such a baby. But I'm psyched I get a special meal.
