In the winter months, the skin on my forehead and temples gets very dry and itchy no matter how much I moisturize. Yesterday after working out, my skin in those areas was crazy dry, itchy, and flaky, and it suddenly occurred to me that all that sweat during my workouts could be an aggravating factor.
Any thoughts/experiences/suggestions (aside from wearing a headband, which probably isn't going to happen)?
Short of that, you could try aquaphor or vaseline on your trouble areas and see if that helps. Those are definitely sweatproof.
Today I actually did use some Vaseline. I was still itchy but it seemed to offer a bit of help. It may take several days or longer to see if it makes a real difference.
I will check on alcohol as an ingredient. That's an interesting point.
I don't think sweating causes an issue for me, but it does exacerbate an existing dry skin issue. Sweating makes my already-dry skin get itchy and stingy, but it doesn't actually dry it out, KWIM? I've started using whipped argan oil on my face to moisturize. I think it'd be too much in the summer, but it's a big help this time of year.
Are you wiping your sweat away a lot? The friction could be causing more of an issue when you skin is drier to begin with in the winter.
This is definitely another possibility, and I tried to be mindful of this today while working out, limiting how often I wiped and instead trying to dab, even though I was crazy itchy. Dabbing is an unfortunately dainty thing to try to do while huffing and puffing and working my ass off, but I think I was mostly successful. LOL
And yes, I think the sweat is exacerbating already-dry skin, not creating it. I have no problems of this nature in the warmer/more humid weather. Once the temp drops, my skin literally changes overnight.
