It was good. Acting was great. I was annoyed that things got cut from the musical. Do it right.
what did they cut?
A few songs got cut. Some of the story line was altered or skipped (like a book adaptation to a movie, a few superfluous things, like he sees his father earlier in the show and Rapunzel dies....) all in all, they cut almost an hour.
OK, as someone who is a big musical theater snob, very familiar with the stage version, and was skeptical about the movie -
I LOVED it. Seriously. I thought it was amazing and so well done. Yes, some stuff was cut, but I didn't feel it affected it too much. "Agony" was so. fucking. awesome. I am a big Bernadette Peters fan, but I have to say that Meryl did it justice. I was very pleasantly surprised.
I'm in the theatre now, and I'm surprised at the amount of little kids in the theatre.
So what did you think?
I thought it was great. MS was incredible, and I was thrilled with how she portrayed The Witch. JD was the weakest link, but his part was so small, it didn't really matter. Agony was hilarious, but I wish they did the reprise. And surprisingly, little red didn't bother me, being a child and all. I would highly recommend it.

I agreed with all of that. I really wanted the reprise plus it would have been funny to see/hear about snow white and sleeping beauty too. Red as a child didn't bother me except for the song, which dh said made him uncomfortable and he hasn't seen the original. I think the song sounded sexual so that was strange but after that it was fine
