I know New Year's Day and Jan 6 seem to be popular days for doing this. For me, it all comes down today (maybe tomorrow if we get lazy). I love Christmas and decorate as early as possible, but once it's over, it's over and I want the decorations gone. H used to think I was weird because his family leaves the tree up FOREVER, but now he's as ready as I am to take them down.
I want to take it all down today too but I know DH isn't going to let me so I will slowly make stuff disappear over the weekend, taking the tree down on Monday while he is at work.
I grew up putting our decorations away right after Christmas where he grew up having it up until after New Years.
I might put some up today, but I will wait to take the tree down until DH is back to work early next week. We still have Christmas at the in-laws tomorrow so I want to leave it up until then.
technically we're starting our Christmas today (at my ILs now, will travel to my mom's sometime tomorrow). my dad and stepmom went hunting, so they're coming to my house Jan 4 and we'll exchange gifts. I'll un-decorate then.
It's normally not until New Year's b/c we head out of town the day after Christmas to see family in another state. This year we're staying home, so I plan on getting it put up today and tomorrow. I want it put up before the baby gets here.
My family has always done by New Years day, because that's my mom's birthday and she likes it done by then. They also put everything up on December 1st, so they're sick of it.
H's family keeps everything up for the 12 days of Christmas, so until after January 6th. Some years they didn't even put their tree up until Christmas Eve!
We do it H's way, because he cares more than I do, lol.
I normally don't get around to taking mine down for months- but this year, the tree is taking up space that I really need for other things, so I'm hoping to get everything put away soon. I'll have to fight DH though, he'd happily leave everything up until spring!
Definitely not til after new year's! I still consider it to be Christmas until then, probably since I am off from work. I will also still watch Christmas movies and stuff!

Usually around the New Year. It's the worst part for me. All of a sudden all my Christmas spirit is gone and it's like "why do we have so much crap?!" So. Many. Ornaments. Ugh. I'm dreading it.
I'm taking our front door and front entry wreaths down today because they are sooo annoying. One falls off the door constantly, the other drops fake snow everywhere. The tree and mantle decorations will stay up until New Years.
Question for the ladies that don't take things down until later in January. Do you have a real tree or a fake tree? I feel like people with fake trees have decorations up a lot longer. (I can't remember who had real and who had fake ones from that post awhile ago.)

Fake. =)
That's what I figure, my tree is starting to lose needles at an alarming rate.

Well, our lights stay up all the time, just not on, haha. We will probably take down the cards on the mantle and the wreath around Jan 1 or so. We don't have a set date or anything, just whenever we get around to it pretty much!
Fake tree!! Although if I got a real tree I would probably wait a little longer to get it, like dec 10 maybe, so I could still leave it up til New Years!
It completely depends on the year. This year, the only decorating we did was putting up our fake tree. We didn't even get out the ornaments or stockings. Since the tree just went up less than a week ago, it will probably stay up for another week or two before we get around to taking it down.
Ours is all put away as of an hour ago, so I am very happy! Now we get to start on our next project...emptying the packed-to-the-gills office. This could take awhile!
