Hi! I know a lot of us already know each other from other boards, but I thought it might be nice to introduce ourselves anyway. I have a 5 yr old daughter who I got from IUI with injectibles. About 2 and a half yrs ago we went back to the RE to TTC #2, but we weren't successful. We had several IUIs (I got PG from 2 of them, but both ended shortly after in chemical PGs) and two IVFs, but nothing has worked. my doctor thinks that the problem is poor egg quality. We're still trying on out own, but that's highly unlikely. In some ways I've been able to accept it and move on, but I still have a lot of rough moments. I'm looking forward to talking to everyone.
I have a 2.5 year old son who was conceived naturally. He was 2 months premature with a lot of issues so we put off TTC a bit to deal with his surgeries (5 of them so far). I never expected to have to deal with fertility issues since DS was conceived so easily (although I did have a m/c prior to him)! So here I am, almost a year-and-a-half after we started TTC #2!
We attempted IVF in November however the meds didn't work and we converted to IUI (BFN). We're doing a natural cycle right now because my clinic doesn't start cycles in December, however we'll probably be doing IVF once I get my period again in January.
Hope everyone's stays are short here! (but stay anyway... we could always use advice!)
jessnpaul I also have a preemie. She was a 30 weeker. She is now 5 and actually really big for her age and is pretty much caught up with her peer group although she tends to do everything on the slow side (late talker, walker and every other developmental milestone).
So our story is that dd was conceived with donor sperm using unmedicated iui with a mid wife. We had an easy time of it and got pregnant on iui # 3. The plan was always to have dw carry number 2 but since I had HELLP syndrome with my pregnancy it is not a good idea for me to carry again anyway. We delayed # 2 for a variety of reasons including dw going back to grad school and the fact that we were pretty scared to have another pregnancy after dd.
Anyway we started trying with dw in september of 2013. We did 7 iui cycles the last one with 2 iuis so a total of 8 ius. No luck on any. We moved to the re in the spring of 2014 and had to delay our first cycle until family weddings were over in June. We did one fresh cycle in July which resulted in a chemical pregnancy (beta 8), a frozen cycle in september also a chemical pregnancy (beta 8), and our last frozen cycle resulting in a pregnancy (beta #1 118 and 2 great ones after that). Unfortunately we found out at our u/2 that the fetus was 1.5 weeks behind and had debris in the sac (although it had a heart beat) and that miscarriage was expected. We had a d&c the next week on 12/10. We are now waiting for dw to get her period. We are planning on starting a fresh cycle when the re gives us the ok.
I have a 2.5 year old son that we conceived through IVF after trying on our own for ~2 years. We were unexplained so we decided to try to get pregnant on our own for 6 months just to see if it would work. We've started the process of doing a FET, but the SIS was abnormal and now I've been scheduled for a hysteroscopy. I didn't realize I'd have to be put under for it. While we haven't been trying for #2 for too long, we've already hit some snags. Best of wishes to everyone here.

Hi! I have a 3.5yo son conceived naturally on cycle 2 of TTC. TTC #2 has not been nearly as easy. Started TTC #2 in August 2013 with one CP. We're in the unexplained camp. I've done 6 IUIs - 1 natural, 3 on Clomid, 2 on Gonal-f. Now we're moving to IVF. I take my last BCP tomorrow, then go for monitoring on 1/5 and will start meds then. I'll be doing Gonal-f and Menopur to start, then adding in Ganirelix later. Will also be on estrogen patches, oral progesterone, and progesterone suppositories (Crinone)... think that's it. Had our nursing consult yesterday and am waiting to hear back about what our new insurance will cover before ordering meds since I think I'll have to order through their pharmacy if they will cover. We've been all OOP up till now so I'm anxious to hear what will be covered as of January 1st.
I have an 8 month old DD- we're not actively TTC #2 just yet, but we're starting to talk about it. We had severe MFI when TTC our daughter- the RE we saw suggested either IVF with ICSI or donor sperm, and told us we had a less than 1% chance of conceiving on our own. I somehow got a miracle BFP the next month, but I have a feeling we won't be so lucky with a (hypothetical) number two- which is creating all kinds of issues in terms of tying to determine when to start "trying"- I'm more inclined to start early since I think we're in for a rough time, and I think DH is convinced it's just going to happen on it's own again and that we don't need to worry about it taking awhile. We're also in the midst of debating what treatments we'd be comfortable pursuing
Hello! I have a DS who will be 3 in a couple weeks. We did one IUI and got pregnant with him after trying for a year. We started trying for baby #2 in May 2013. We have done 3 IUI's and IVF. Our IVF was successful but had a miscarriage at 7 weeks. We were lucky enough to get pregnant on our own a couple months later and ended up with another miscarriage at 10 weeks. We currently do not have any plans. We have 10 frozen embryos but I'm not quite up for it all yet. Good luck to everyone!
Hi everyone! I have a 2.5 yo daught er that we conceived in two cycles. We started TFAS one year ago, in December 2013. I got a BFP in January, but has a MMC at 15 weeks in April and a d&c. I got my second BFP in July, and miscarried naturally at 6 weeks.
Due to the fact I had a healthy child, the OB wanted to do some recurrent loss testing, and I was open to it. I had bloodwork and a sonohysterogram, and was diagnosed with a submucousal fibroid that is believed to have caused my losses.
I went on a shrinking medication for a few weeks, but then got into a trial of a new device for a vaginal removal of the fibroid in December. However, when they went in, they were unable to find the fibroid! The OB believes the medication caused it to shrink, and reported my uterus looked great. So, we are off the bench, and praying we get another BFP quickly, so the growth of an embryo can beat that of the fibroid (which grows on hormones).

Hi! I have a 12 month old daughter and we are not exactly TTC right now but we are not not trying. I'm basically in denial that I have fertility issues because I'm not sure if I could handle any treatments ever again. I have a bunch of random diagnoses, but nothing major that is definitively the reason we had TTTC before. We did 3 IUIs with a blighted ovum with the first one before moving to IVF. We were very lucky that cycle, as we only ended up with one early blast to transfer, my lining was thin, and the RE was already planning what we would do differently my next cycle, but somehow she kept growing! I'm terrified of going down that road again and dealing with all the pain, and based on all my old test results as well as the IVF cycle I have convinced myself I just have old eggs. I always pictured a big family for myself though, and I really want DD to have at least one sibling, so we'll see if I can get the courage to try again with the RE.

Hello! I have an 18 month old son who was conceived by FSH injections + IUI.
For some reason I always thought we would have trouble getting pregnant. After a year of trying on our own, I visited my OB who ran tests on me and my husband. After the sperm analysis showed he had poor quality (I can't remember all of the terms at this point anymore), she referred us to our RE. The RE did more tests and found nothing wrong with the sperm and eventually I was "diagnosed" with "unexplained female infertility." We did multiple cycles of Clomid, Femara, IUI, injections, and finally Menopur + IUI worked for us.
We started TTC #2 this fall and after meeting with our RE we thought we would try exactly what worked to conceive our son. So far, no luck. The first cycle was awful, my follicles were not responding at all and I felt terribly sick, but further cycles have seemed to respond, although no pregnancy. DH and I decided that this is our last cycle before we take a break and decide if we want to move forward with IVF next fall.
Hello! I have a 22 month old DD who was conceived through IVF after 3.5 years of TTC.
We have severe MFI and zero percent chance of conceiving without IVF. We have 3 frozen embryos and hope to be able to afford a FET sometime this spring.
Hi all I have a 2yr old DS who was conceived naturally after several years of trying (and being brushed off by several drs). We've been ttc #2 for about 15 months. I was just diagnosed with PCOS and hypothyroidism (like 3 weeks ago). Currently on Metformin before we try Clomid in Feb.
DS was also a preemie making his appearance at 34 weeks
I have a 10 month old DD conceived through a inject & iui cycle which was supposed to be ivf. It got converted due to poor response.
We are starting ttc again this month and today is my first day of the ivf diet which I'm convinced helped me last time. (google Dr Jeffrey Russell ivf diet)
I really don't want to do treatments again and as of right now we won't, but as you all know, its easy to say "I'd never..." Until you are faced with it.
Oh yeah, we are unexplained but like mae141 I think I have old eggs.

Yeah, I think diet made a huge difference for me, both with TTC and overall health. My RE is big into diet and said no more sugar/carbs. I feel like that was what got my bum ovary working again. I also get migraines pretty often, and the year that I was TTC and eating well, I didn't get a single migraine and I hardly got sick. This past year that I haven't been so good with my eating habits, migraines have come back worse than ever.
You guys, Dr. Russell was my RE! He hooked me up with a mentor and after 4 years of trying, 4 miscarriages I was pregnant three months later. I'd be happy to help anyone with his diet plan if they want.
Oh and hi. I tried for four years to get pregnant. My eggs blow, tried I've twice with two different clinics and our embryos died both times. Suspected egg issues. Dr. Russell put me on the diet, wanted me to do it for six months and try ivf again.
We are trying for one year, just started this month. Doing the diet and that's it since ivf is pointless for me.
I wish we didn't have to be here but it's nice to see so many familiar faces. I have a 4 year old DS who was conceived with clomid. I had one miscarriage before him and an ectopic (also clomid) after him which resulted in losing my right tube. So, now after trying on our own for a year post-ectopic, we are on to IVF in January. The RE thinks our issue is tubal since everything came back ok. I still wonder about that since I have unexplained long cycles.
I just switched from DH's insurance (no coverage) to mine ($25k for infertility) in order to move forward. I hope no one has to be here long.

could you tell me more about the diet? I am an eating disaster right now and really need to get myself together. Thanks
He was absolutely appalled at the amount of red wine that I used to drink, he made me cut all of it out. I also still start my mornings with a protein shake and I always keep protein bars on me so I don't have to eat like crap when I am out and about.
Hi guys, I hope it's okay for me to join in here! I've been posting (and will still post) on GP, but I want to be sensitive to those trying for a first LO.
I have a just-turned 3 year old DS, who is the light of my life. It took 7ish months to get pregnant with him, but was just the second cycle after I started OPKs. I think I was mistiming it before that. We started TTC #2 in March and I got a surprise BFP that cycle, when I wasn't tracking yet, which ended in a MMC at 8 weeks. I also had a CP last cycle. Due to spotting in those two pregnancies, my OB offered progesterone supplements. I know that sounds crazy, to take something without a diagnosis yet, but I'm in the early stages of TTC crazies.
Because I'm AMA, my OB referred me to an RE. I'm supposed to call when my next cycle starts to do CD3 bloodwork (not sure if there's more??), HSG, and an SA for my husband. I know it can be frowned upon to introduce anywhere in the TWW, but considering I had a stark white BFN this morning at 11dpo, I'm calling this cycle a bust.
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.

I have a dd who is 11. I conceived her without trying. I'm remarried and my H doesn't have any children. We are just over a year into trying. We've done all the testing and everything has come back great except for my Thyroid. I see an RE since I'm almost 37. We are just doing TI for this cycle and next. At some point between now and next month we are going to freeze some of H's sperm so that I can do IUI's while he's gone. He's in the Army and is going to be leaving in February for a year.
Hi everyone! A little late on this, but decided that we will be continuing TTC#2.
We have a 5 year old DD that was concieve naturally after 6 cycles. She was born in 2009. We have been TTC#2 since October 2012. During that time we have had 3 miscarriages (currently going through our third right now).
We have been DX with unexplained secondary infertility. We did 2 rounds of Clomid and got pregnant right before Thabksgiving (but ended in a mc). We will start TTC again after having a natural cycle and hopefully it won't take us very long to get our take home baby.
Hi there. Not sure if I will really "fit in" since we are no longer actively TTC #2. But it will be nice to chat with other going through the same struggles.
Background: DS is 4.5, conceived naturally on Cycle 7. We started TTC #2 before his first birthday. After a year, went to RE. Diagnosis was high FSH (also I have a history of endo). Over the course of the next 18 months, did a total of seven IUI's with no success. I'll be honest, it really took a toll on my marriage and that is why we stopped short of IVF. I realized that in my quest for another baby I was jeopardizing the family I already have. Not saying it is that way for others, but for us it was (DH long work hours were definitely a factor - we had no time to talk about anything but 2IF).
Anyway, it's been almost a year since we stopped trying but are still having unprotected sex and hoping for a miracle!

That's kind of our situation, too. After multiple IUIs ( 2 resulting in CPs), 2 failed IVFs, and more failed IUIs with a new RE we stopped treatment, but we still hope for a miracle every month.
Hi ladies, We have a 3 yo DD who was conceived after over a year of TTC and one m/c. We started ttc #2 in December 2013, got pregnant on cycle 1, but it was ectopic and I lost a tube in the process. We took 4 or so months off of TTC after that, then started back up in June 2014 and have had no luck since.
My OB/GYN sent us for a bunch of tests in December and the HSG showed a proximal blockage in the remaining tube, so he referred us to the local fertility clinic. In the meantime I've been reading a lot about HSG tests and how unreliable they can be so we are continuing to try as usual, hoping for a miracle BFP.
