Yes, the kids did. My kids were one of the few kids in nursery school to not get sick, the doctor said it was because they have had flu shots their entire lives. Here in the UK, they don't seem to like vaccines so most people don't get the optional ones.
I warned our parents that the hospital is not allowing any grandparents into NICU unless they have proof of a flu shot older than 2 weeks. (Obviously I'm not planning on being in the NICU, but I doubt anyone plans on that, kwim?) I know my mom got one and I think my Dad did. ILs ignored H when he told them, so I fully expect a huffy meltdown about how the hospital is being ridiculous if they're not allowed to visit if we do have a baby in there, or if they tighten visitor restrictions any further. Tough nuts!
DS and DH did, I forgot and now I don't think there's much point since I've heard it was against the wrong strain anyway.
You should still get your shot.
For now, officials have a couple of messages for those worried about the flu. Namely: if you're not already vaccinated, do it. There are several strains of the flu circulating each year. So while this year's vaccine batch might have a limited effect on the predominant strain, it could still protect against other strains.
Perl particularly urged healthy individuals to get the vaccine this year, noting that what might feel like a "nuisance" of an illness for some is life threatening in more vulnerable populations, some of whom might also have a less effective response to the vaccines. "We forget that this is a bad disease and it kills people," she said, adding that by vaccinating healthy individuals, officials "are in essence protecting those that are vulnerable."
C's daycare required that all children over 6 months get the flu shot no later than mid-December. Others who reach 6 months of age between now and the end of flu season have like a month to get the flu shot from when they turn 6 months. However, it seems that the strain of flu that has been going around our area is not one of the strains covered by the flu vaccine that we all got, so it looks like it's going to be a yucky flu season.

I was the only one at my workplace to get the flu vaccine, and the only one to not get the flu. Coincidence? I think not.
