Alright ladies - I set myself a google reminder to post on Sundays for meal plans/food ideas, and Wednesdays to do a Health and Fitness check-in. If I haven't done it by mid-day, someone else feel free to start.
From what I saw in the other post, HoneySpider, @skyesthelimit1212, and @emtmissy were looking specifically for weekly checkins for accountability. awick14, grover, krystee, and jjwritergirl are interest in meal plan ideas.
I know some people said they were starting today/tomorrow. Anyone accomplish any of their initial goals?
HoneySpider, Did you make it to the gym? awick14 - Did you get a run in yet? Any thoughts on the Whole 30? I'm getting back on the grain and added sugar free boat tomorrow, so happy to check-in on you as you make that transition! katespade - Did you make a decision on joining the gym vs working out at home? @skyesthelimit1212 - Did you get your morning workouts in? And start the planking challenge? estrellita - How is the low sugar stuff going? I meant to mention in your post about lower sugar treats that I really like these. They are kind of pricey and by no means as good as a chocolate bar, but one truffle will kill the sweets craving for me. I think I pay $3ish at Earth Fare. @emtmissy - Have you been using MFP consistently? grover - Ready to start tomorrow? travelbug - Do you have your routine for 1/5 figured out? Will you be adding work outs or focusing on eating? krystee - Have you started meal planning? jjwritergirl - You still planning to plan out all your meals starting next week?
As for me, I found out that our performing arts center (conveniently located directly across from my office) offers free yoga on Fridays at lunchtime. I've put three of those on my calendar in Jan/Feb. I'd also like to try some different types of yoga, as I'd imagine this will be more relaxation focused. Anyone have any recommendations? I'm also back to eating clean whole foods tomorrow.
I haven't decided! I need to sit down and have a real conversation with H about it, since he leads me through my workouts.
His gym has early morning classes that I could do before work and evening classes that I could do after work, but their only weekend classes are Saturday mornings and I don't know how well I would actually follow through with doing classes on work days.
It would be nice to have access to all of the equipment, but I've also never worked out in public before and that makes me nervous. I'm comfortable working out at home, but I would have so many more resources at the gym. I also don't know if it's worth the money.

I'm so indecisive!
Ok, let's think through it...
-Do you get bored working out at home? -Could your H go with you the first 3-4 times and help you learn the equipment, come up with a game plan? Lots of gyms also will offer a couple sessions with a trainer to walk you through the settings on the machines, etc. and figure out appropriate weights. It's usually little or no cost for new folks. -In terms of the money, would it be worth it if you were only doing the classes? Maybe you could start with one weeknight and one Saturday (i.e. if it's $40 a month, is $5 a class worth it until you figure out how to do some things on your own)? If it's in your budget perhaps see if the gym will let you do month-to-month or like a 3 month contract. That way if you hate it, you have an out.

These are really great questions.
- I wouldn't say that I get bored at home, but I tend to feel really unmotivated when I walk in the door after a busy day and the couch is right there and it looks so much better than working out.
- The reason I would choose H's gym is because he would always come with me for non-class workouts. He's always taken the trainer role when I work out at home and I would want to continue that whether I was at home or at the gym. He works out from 3-5 every day and my work day ends at 5, so I would just start meeting him there instead of meeting him at home.
- My concern is that I don't know if I can do or would enjoy the classes, so my mind is headed more in the direction of wondering if the cost is worth it if I end up not doing them. Like, are the exercise machines worth the money?
- H gets a discount on his gym from his employer, so it is $35 for a month-to-month membership. I'm leaning toward going for it, because it's just too easy to skip working out when I'm at home. I'm sure that it's easy to skip the gym, too, but if I go straight from work I won't have time to get comfortable and lazy enough to decide to skip it.
I took the dog out yesterday to the dog park and ran around with him for a half hour in the cold, and we took a 1.5 mile walk a little bit ago. I promised him another walk after we go to dinner tonight. My amazon dvds came yesterday, so I will start one of them tomorrow. All of my Christmas candy is now out of the house- I ate my favorite, but tossed all the rest.
wanderingenough H has thrown out most of his candy too. I think that all he has left is an open bag of truffles and a box of Frango mints. I did steal two Frangos this am, but I do not plan on eating any more!

Yes, I joined the gym today! Got my first workout of 2015 in. I wanted to start out easy so I decided to just walk on the treadmill, I told myself to do 30 min. I felt good so I ended up doing 45. I also walked to the gym and back. I think I'm going to be sore/tired tomorrow.
I'm having a lot of trouble with my knee again lately, I need to get a new (better) brace. Eventually I am going to see a doctor here to get a 2nd opinion. Even if it is the same diagnosis maybe I can get set up with PT or some medication or something - I'm too young to have this kind of pain and limited mobility.
I just bought my bulletin board to create my motivational wall. I will be starting and completing this project tomorrow. I have to finalize my work out routine, but I'm almost done! I also have to print off a blank calendar and color code it. Oh, I also need to purchase my work out DVD's on Amazon or Wal-mart.
I'll be focusing mainly on the exercise routine, but I'm trying to give up sweets/pastries and trying to snack less!
(I love this check in post, this will be GREAT accountability)
I didn't post in the other thread, but I would also like to participate in weekly check-ins for accountability. I am starting on Monday 1/5. I am going to do the whole30 (second time around for this) and work on doing one workout dvd per day to start.

HoneySpider - I have a great knee brace. I use it for lifting, but I have friends who use it for walking/running as well. It's seriously Heaven-sent. I'll send you the link in a bit.
wanderingenough - Could you send me the link to your brace, as well? I've been in need of a new one for quite a while, especially now that I don't do PT anymore.

I didn't respond in the other thread, but I'm super excited for this! I'm starting on Sunday (we're doing Christmas with my family on Saturday), and I love the idea of check ins for some accountability
wanderingenough Those look good! I will have to see if I can get them around here. Thanks for the suggestion! I've been doing pretty well with the less sugar thing. I do have a small piece of candy (like one tiny "fun sized" Kit Kat) or something sweet at night, but that's been it other than a few sips of H's pop when he has one. There is a bag of candy on the empty desk next to mine at work and it was tempting me SO bad yesterday but I didn't give in! As for the blood sugar, it's been pretty good for the most part. It's been really interesting learning what spikes it and what doesn't, and how much being active after eating can affect it. Even for people without GD or regular diabetes, I would definitely suggest just taking a quick walk or doing some random exercises after eating! Staying active isn't easy with my already low energy, but I'm hoping taking a few minutes to move after eating every day will help increase my energy as well as keep that blood sugar down!
Thanks for doing these posts, I think this is going to be very helpful! I hope we can all keep up on our goals!
I don't have a meal plan yet (waiting to find out tomorrow if I need to follow a gestational diabetes diet), but I got the Skinnytaste cookbook for Christmas and plan to do a lot of dinners from there. I am also grilling up a boatload of chicken tomorrow so I can have chicken and veggies for lunch for the rest of the weekend.
I think just cutting down on the restaurants will help a ton as well.

I made it to the gym 3 days this week, and I slept through my alarm on Wed morning and "made myself" go during lunch instead. I almost forgot about the planking challenge until a friend reminded me that we were starting it, so I did the first 20 seconds last night.
krystee, would you be willing to let us know how good/easy the skinnytaste cook is? I love her website and often use her recipes from online, I'd be willing to spend the $ on the cookbook if it's good. I had Devon Alexander's Most Decadent Diet Ever cookbook, but I lost, I used a few of her recipes quite a lot. I really need to buy another copy.
I didn't get a run in until yesterday. This head cold thing is kicking my ass. on the plus side though I haven't been eating as much because I am just not hungry.
My run yesterday was slow and not as far as I normally go but at least I got up and did it. I hung a calendar up in my bedroom with my workout plans and goals on it, hopefully I can start following them asap. It would be so much better if I wasn't sick.
I am going to start my meal planning on Sunday, DH is home until Monday and I am working most of the weekend so for now we will just eat leftovers and stuff.
