Guardians of the Galaxy- for a 6 yo?

We just saw it like two weeks ago, and I can't remember, lol.  It's rated PG-13, but I don't remember it being bad?

H saw it and said David's too young. I don't think there's anything particularly offensive, it's just a bit too mature for him.

We took the bean and she thought it was great, but I could feel the hub glare in my direction every time a swear word was uttered. I'd totally assured him I'd checked it out and it was good, LOL.

She's never really heard any of them though and so didn't even notice.

Will has seen it multiple times (he's a young 6) and the swearing is minimal and he knows he is not to repeat any of the words. We can't get worked up about it

I think most of the movie would go over DSs head. And I agree w/ Toledo - I think there is worse stuff going on in the movie than swear words.

It's not something I'm going to judge, but I really don't know why you'd take a young child to see this movie.

My 5.5 year old loves it. We took her to watch it in the theater and now we own it.

And, sex slaves? I must have missed that lol. I've watched it twice and didn't catch that.

I wouldn't show him, not for the language but for the violence and adult themes. But I'm pretty pearl clutch about that. I won't let my kid watch the Ninja Turtle movies.

We took our 4 year old to see it. He loved it.

At least I'm not like my coworker who lets her kid (also 4) watch The Walking Dead with them?

Are you talking about the two girls with the Collector? I took it to mean those were slaves who had to clean and the first girl didn't do a good enough job.

There are parts of the movie that are a bit violent, but I think it would go over most kids heads. Or it's more "cartoon violence", like in old Looney Toons shows. I may be biased, though, I love the movie.

We let DS 1 watch the Avengers, but I'm not as comfortable with him watching Guardians of the Galaxy. Not because of the sex slaves (pretty sure he wouldn't pick up on that subtext since I didn't), but I felt like the violence was a bit more intense and less cartoon-y than Avengers.

Mine (5 and 8) have seen it. It is more mature than The Avengers, but it went over their heads. The sex slaves went over MY head, lol. The swearing was problematic, though.

My 5 year old loved it. We saw it in the theater. Santa brought him the movie, we now have the Disney infinity game and we will be having a Guardians birthday party next

My two year old is fluent in swear words. We watched it last night and the kids were bored.

My just turned 3 year old has spent the past year watching Iron Man on a weekly basis. He's watched GOTG a handful of times. So much of it goes over his head; he just really likes Groot. But, we're a super hero/sci fi family.

I never even thought about those poor pink girls as doing anything more than cleaning until this thread. My uncle took me to see terminator 2 when I was 6, I was too young for that, Guardians I think depends on the kid.
