I'm going to C&P my answer from the MM thread:
It's all over the place in our neighborhood, last I noticed it ranged from $2.99 to $3.59.
We paid $2.03 at Sam's Club out in the suburbs the other day. We rarely drive anymore so I can't get too excited about it. Where were these prices when I was commuting 100 miles/day?
awick14 I had to buy gas in liters once....and I had to pay cash before I pumped. I had no idea how much to pay for. I only ended up w half a tank lol.
melsamoony and awick14 I'm pretty sure we had to buy gas in liters in Puerto Rico and also had to prepay. This was also in some random shady area where I don't think they spoke a lot of English, haha. Poor H had no idea how much gas he needed or how much money would fill the tank!
I checked on the way home and I saw $1.92. That was at an SA so if we use our rewards card, it would be $1.89! We also have enough points to get a coupon for 50 cents off per gallon up to 25 gallons. We're waiting for H's car to be empty to get it. Then we would only be paying $1.42 (unless they allow the rewards thing too, which I doubt). Could fill up the SUV for like $20-25! Insane!
melsamoony & estrellita- the law here, in BC, is you have to pre-pay for fuel. You do get used to it and most people know how much to pre pay for. (Or you can preauthorize up to a certain amount on your debut/credit card.)
The law is in place because to many people gas and dash. We have had a few gas station workers run over before because of it, so now it's just the law to prepay.
I saw it for 1.89 the other day. I don't pay too much attention we don't have a car at the moment. Actually we have not had a car for over a year it's kinda nice. no gas no insurance no oil changes. The ever faithful Taurus died oct of 2012. every thing is so fricking close I don't miss it. That being said we are about to buy a used old car here soon. just to ease the pain of grocery shopping and kid's Dr. appointments. I'll still walk to work and we'll still walk to the pool in the summer. I love how close we are to everything.

I could see that. I know at a lot of gas stations here, certain pumps are prepay or pay at the pump only because they are harder to see from the store. I pay inside after pumping 99% of the time just because once H went to pay at the pump and they put a $150 hold on his card! I get the hold, but that was a lot! In NJ you can't even pump your own gas, probably partially for this reason!

If you pay at the pump here they ask you how much to put a hold on. So they do the hold but you can choose an amount, if you don't choose one then it's usually $100 or $150 depending on the gas station. I always pay at the pump and choose $50 as it usually costs about $40-$50 to fill my car.

That would be nice! I think the gas stations here decided some people fill up for $150 (big trucks I could see) so that's the hold amount they should use. This was also when H had his tiny little Accent, so he frequently only filled up for like $25, haha.
