So many places I have worked have had hiring freezes in the holidays through the end of January. (Barely anyone is LOOKING for new employment around this time.) My current employer? No. They want to hold a "come to Jesus" meeting with me on Friday....actually, I should say our dingbat CNO wants to hold it and invite all the hiring managers for one department. They're descriving it as a chance to "review staffing." I'm no newbie to recruiting so I know what that means. I really REALLY hope I'm wrong.
If they could actually KEEP their staff, we wouldn't be in this position! The people that are leaving have been here for years....much longer than myself. Do they want to question hiring managers on why they can't frickin keep their staff? NO. Does my boss, i.e. HR Director, make them take a look at retention, NO. It's much easier to make the recruiter keep churning up bodies to walk in the building and work. It's a lot harder to have balls.
Secondly, they keep their staff to a skeleton crew so when 1....just ONE...position becomes vacant, they are in crisis mode. That's something they need to address...as I've discussed it with our HR Director many a times.
LASTLY, this is the FIRST Monday after the Christmas & New Year's holidays. I've explained to many people that despite my cold contacting applicants, people are simply not wanting to move around the holidays. The fact that the CNO is drumming up this panic only reinforces to me she has ZERO idea of staffing reality.
Thanks for letting me vent! (Please feel free to add yours so I don't feel like an AW jerkface.)
I am so frustrated that I feel like crud today. Just when I'm able to get my IBS under control for a moment, my endo pain flairs up again. I'M OVER IT.
Kids are back in school and that means waking up at 6am every week day. I worked 10 ours to day and will likely be working ten hour days until half way through feb. OH BOY! I'm so damn tired and H is all "go to bed." I can't DD had a nap today no telling when she will fall asleep and I have to clean/ pack my closet. *sigh* I can't wait until next month. When this vacation/ moving/ craziness is over.
I caulked and sanded the last bit of the trim this weekend. I kept looking at it and it didn't look right. Realized today it's because I had been using clear instead of white caulking. Grrr. I had the go to Lowe's to get the right stuff and redo all that work. Had to be done today so it was ready for MIL to paint tomorrow. Oh well, at least now I have it fixed.
My vent is that I went to a walk-in-clinic, similar to urgent care, and saw the doctor today. I am just so sick of having this horrible cough. The doctor said its viral so he recommends me taking off 10-14 days of work and just resting. Wtf?!? Who can do that. He also just said to treat my symptoms with over the counter stuff. He did a throat swab and said I will hear within the next 2-4 days if it comes back positive for anything.
LOL awick14. I had just gotten on the couch and the pup whined to go out. I leaned it against the arm rest, got up, and then when walking back to the couch I may have tripped on a dog toy and fell on to the couch. I was just grateful about not breaking my toe on the damn bone that I had to finally laugh. I guess it's a sign that I need to portion out my chips and salsa before coming to the couch.
