I can't stop thinking about that chair. I decided I am so in love with how it feels I don't care at all about how it looks. Plus, the more I see it the more I like it. I went and put it on hold today and I'm going to pay for it tomorrow!
My mom wants to buy me a rocker/recliner for rocking baby girl in. Most of our furniture is hand-me-downs and I have nothing that rocks right now.
We have been looking at local furniture stores. I'm looking at regular recliners, nothing special for nurseries.
So, yesterday I found this chair that I love. It fits perfectly, hits my back justtttt right (which is important cause I have back issues already) and... it is kinda ugly. I don't really care what it looks like as long as it feels right. DH thinks I should get it and put it in the nursery (not sure if we will have room) and I was thinking about leaving it in the living room (so it is more functional all the time).
So, thing is for Christmas I also got a gift certificate towards this same furniture store from my in-laws. We are planning to use that money towards getting a couch/sectional/something of that nature.
Would you buy a chair that you love the feeling of, even if it may not match what you ultimately pick as the rest of the living room furniture? I could possibly move it to the nursery, but just not sure how to fit it in there without being crowded. I looked at couches yesterday and didn't find anything I love, but I do need to go ahead and get a chair picked out asap. I don't know if it's worth going out of town to look at different stores when I found something so comfortable already.
I've never bought furniture from a furniture store so this whole process is new to me and makes me feel like an adult. Lol.
Does it look like an accent piece to the set you would hope to buy one day? I like seeing a set of furniture with a fun accent chair or table that stands out.

Just my own personal opinion, get the chair. It will come in handy, trust me. You can always "throw" blanket over it. And this is a "I wish someone would have suggested it to me" if you have a children's consignment anywhere near you, you should see if they have an automatic rocker. I sooooo wish I had one for the first year with lo.
I don't think it's completely hideous. Not something I'd pick, but it looks comfy! I say go for it. Our furniture doesn't match exactly (the couch is a hand me down from the ILs and is a tan with an orange design. It's not as bad as it sounds, lol. The Lazy Boy we bought is tan too, but a little lighter. Meh). I think it could easily compliment a set you might buy in the future, otherwise I think it would easily work in a room instead!
I'm not sure what I will get for the living room, that's the problem. Lol. It would not fit in our bedroom, but maybe the nursery. I don't care if everything matches perfectly but just thinking about it. I don't hate it, just don't love it, but it is sooo comfy! I'm leaning towards getting it just for the feel. :-)
That chair looks so comfortable. I'd say go for it. Being comfortable after little one is born and you are using a chair all the time, I feel going comfy than beautiful is a good call!
I haven't. I have only looked local. This particular chair is Ashley I believe. It's pretty big but I'm 95% sure it will end up in the living room. I figure I will want to be out there most the time instead of in the nursery.
I envisioned something a lot worse before I saw the pic. It would literally stress me out to see a piece of furniture that didn't match in my living room but I would get it for the nursery. I also like the reupholster idea.
ETA I should also note that our nursery rocker is currently in the empty dining room because our room is on the first floor and the nursery is on the second floor. I've just had to deal with crap being everywhere for the time being lol.
