Has anyone else watched this Australian series based on the books? I just discovered it on Netflix, but I think it was on PBS at one time. Anyway, I am absolutely loving it and recommend it to those who love period shows (this one is during the 1920's). It's a lot of fun, and the costumes are amazing.

I watched the episodes as they were first aired here in Australia. I had read several of the books before I watched the first series. Overall I enjoyed it, but I found the adaptations are not at all faithful to the books. I do enjoy it as a television series, and the actors are well cast for the roles, but if you are looking for faithful adaptations of the books, do not watch the series.
I was also lucky enough to go to the exhibition of costumes for the series at Ripponlea which was used as a location for several of the episodes. It was very interesting how much effort is put into keeping with the period.
