I would probably go with a nude shoe too! But lostarz is right on the money with a metallic or even a black if it were the right shoe. I think so many ladies get stuck in the 'matchy' mentality that they can't think outside of the box.
I wore nude pumps with my cobalt dress. Or for a pop of color, fuchsia would look nice. Or, metallic... if they aren't strappy. I always think prom when I see strappy metallic heels.

Do NOT wear cobalt shoes with a cobalt dress. wayyyy too matchy matchy to do a bold color for both your dress and shoes. I agree with PP's about the occasion being a driver, but metallics would be great or the right pop of color.
Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of the neon yellow with it, way too much going on, but that's just a personal preference.
I just purchased one to wear and plan to wear nude pumps with nude fishnets. I feel like the bright color deserves the attention, don't want to draw any on footwear
I think you're both on the right track here! Two were older than me, one significantly. I think fashion used to be over-the-top matchy in the early-to-mid 20th century, so anyone who grew up in the 30s thru the 80s might think that way. The one woman who was younger than me I just think is stuck in the late 1980s cause she looks kinda 'Flashdancey' most of the time.
I LOVVVVVE the leopard shoes suggestion with cobalt! Must do that!
