Seventh Generation liquid. Definitely not cheap! But standard detergents are too harsh on a septic system. I especially don't like the idea of conventional detergents ending up in our well water.
Generic powder from whatever store I'm in when I run out. Unscented. I will wash by hand before using lemon scent. I don't understand why I want my plates to smell.

What's so special about the pods?
Wait, you've found unscented powder? We use Seventh Generation gel because it's the only thing we can find without lemon or "fresh" scent.

Finish tablets. A dishwasher repair person (who came to look at my one year old Bosch a few years ago) told me that Cascade was the worst, although I always thought it was the best. He said Finish is better formulated to work with today's washers. Who knows if he knew what he was talking about.

I really like the Seventh Generation powder but if Cascade is cheaper than I will buy that next time (we're still new to using a dishwasher and SG was the first thing we picked up because it was just there).
