Am I super culturally ignorant for not realizing that Canada didn't always have Target?
Target feels universal to me. Target should always be there, wherever you go. A part of me has died learning that it is not.
mmm as a whole would die if they had to shop like canadians for 3 months. eliminate 80% of your online shopping options, which includes no target and a significantly reduced amazon. then cut your brick and mortar options in smaller cities by probably 40%. if you live in a rural area you're just screwed. you have walmart and you'll like it or else.

Omg, this is so true. When my parents lived in a small town in NS I wanted to die…our 'mall' had a walmart at one end, a sears at the other, and not much in between…it took me 30 minutes to walk the mall and there was nothing else for an hours drive...
Nope. The Bay is more of a high end department store. Zellers was more Target level, but Target bought them out and shut them down (and they were terrible, both selection and stock wise).
NO! It is sort of like Macy's? I don't know how expensive Macy's is though...
Our 'highest' end department store is probably Holt Renfrew - they only do clothes and cosmetics and stuff, pretty sure they don't do household stuff
Then comes the Bay. There used to be Eaton's too but they went under. The Bay is more expensive than I would like but they are fine. Lots of people do wedding registries there. There is a wide selection of stuff…clothes, furniture, kitchen stuff, appliances, etc...
Then…well, then there's Sears I think?
I think Target is nicer than Sears personally but I could be wrong.
also, this is why we have to buy our clothes at the grocery store.
@vicmo
Joe fresh for lyfe.
Shopping at Superstore makes me stabby. I like Joe Fresh clothes, but I hate the shopping experience at my local store. Huge lines for the checkout, poor produce and meat quality and I hate that they won't even help you bag your stuff.

OMG my friend's mom lives in Canada and is always sending my girls what we call "Joe clothes." They are adorable but I didn't realize they were sold in the grocery store.

Canada sounds like a strange and mysterious land.
Do not judge this. People here LOVE Joe Fresh.
No no no! I am not judging! They are adorable--some of my favorite items. I just had no idea they were sold in the grocery store! Somehow the thought of my dear friend's mother going to the store to pick up milk, eggs, bananas, and a tshirt for DD1 is hilarious to me.

Whenever I get to the end of frozen aisle I have to tell DH to wait a second while I run into the store to look at stuff (at some stores it is a store attached to the grocery store, other places the clothes are in a double wide aisle area.

Get out of here. I love superstore. Galen Weston jr is on my laminated list of 5.
I know... I love PC products and Joe Fresh, but I can only handle going to my local superstore like once every 2 months just to stock up. It makes me so angry when I have a huge cart load of stuff, 2 kids and am trying to bag all my stuff while the cashier just stands there doing nothing. When I lived in SK, they had an awesome Superstore and Extra Foods that sold clothes.
