I find it funny how we Canadians don't seem to ever get shocked by mundane things like types of corn or the way you package milk in the US . Too much American media? No mystery left? Maybe some overseas mmmers can surprise us?
I live in a city with two big Loblaws and two Superstores and I would say that Loblaws is slightly "upscale" - better produce, big deli/bakery section, big Joe Fresh sections, lots of specialty foods (natural, gluten-free, Asian foods, etc).
Hey Americans - if you want to hear a funny grocery store name, in BC there is (was?) a grocery chain called Overwaitea's. Say that out loud..
We shopped at Overwaitea growing up, the one in my hometown turned into a Save On Foods but Overwaitea is still around in small town BC. I remember Overwaitea had a fountain pop station where you could fill up your own 2 litre pop bottles with all kinds of pop flavors.
I like that Loblaw's generic food brand is actually called "No Name" brand.
Where are you from? (PM me if you don't want to say on here.) I am from BC, and still live in my home town.
i've had no less than 5 text conversations with friends this morning and am participating 2 threads on facebook. all about target.
maybe i need to evaluate my life.
It was the first topic brought up in a phone meeting this morning--of course, I'm in transportation logistics and was on a call with our biggest carrier contractor. But yeah, it's a big deal in many ways.
It will also come up tonight at dinner with friends, as my friend's cousin will be there and she just left her job with Target (corporate office) to relocate here for a Nordstrom job. I hope to hear a little inside scoop.
Coming in late to an awesome thread. But target Canada sucked. Target USA is so good. We were so excited it was coming. Then it came and it was such a let down. I read an article today about how easy it is to enter the Canadian market because we love shopping only second to Americans. But I guess target messed up.

I grew up in the Interior. I miss the mountains and we plan on moving back one day. We live in AB now.
