DD will be 2y9m when #2 is born in June. Currently we have a snap n go, a city mini gt and an UB g-luxe.
DD doesn't use the stroller that often now, but there are a ton of opportunities this time of year. I think she will use one more this summer when I'm home on mat leave and take daily walks with both kids. Do you think it's worth getting a double?? If we purchase one, it will likely be a city select (either used or a new older model) with a car seat adapter and I will sell the snap and go and probably the g-luxe.
Will an average sized toddler outgrow the city select seats? DD has been consistently 25% for weight and 50% for height.
I used a sit-n-stand a bit, but overall, I hated it. I much preferred wearing the baby and putting DS in the single when he needed to be in a stroller.
My kids are 6 weeks shy of 3 years apart and we did not get the double stroller. I wore DD2 a ton when she was little, and by the time she got old enough to prefer the stroller, DD1 was capable and reliable to walk alongside the stroller or use her balance bike.

We skipped the double because I didn't want to spend the money. DS1 was 2y5m when DS2 was born. He uses the stroller while I wear the baby, who hates strollers with a passion anyway so it's working for us. Once the baby is a little older, I assume he'll be in the stroller more and DS1 will walk.

I'd wait and see, if you can stand to do so.
+1 on this.
Dd1 was 2yrs 7mths when dd2 arrived. We never got a double and I'm so glad. She was pretty good at walking locally and on the very rare occasion we walked a little further it would be both parents with 2 strollers, but that was like less than 10 times ever!
C will be 2y5m when this baby is born and we're not getting a double. And since this is a February baby, we probably won't be outdoors much until he's a few months older anyway. We will reevaluate later if we need it, but C hates the stroller already and I have a bunch of baby carriers.

Nope. My MIL got us a city mini double and I'm often glad I didn't spend my own money it. We use it for walks around the neighborhood, mostly. We used it more when DS2 was still using the car seat adapter when we would go on outings but once he started sitting up taking the single stroller and wearing one of them is a lot easier.
I'd skip it or get a cheap sit and stand at the most.
My almost 3 year old hasn't liked the stroller in months. I haven't used our city mini double since September? And my baby is getting uncomfortable to wear at almost 30lbs. I really need to adjust my toddler tula and start using it instead of the ergo. Anyway.
I do use a joovy caboose at this point. I usually enforce my older DS at least stand on it when we're in parking lots but then let him walk beside once we're inside the zoo, mall etc.

DD was 2.5 when DS was born. I got a double jogger because I use it for exercise, and we go on walks/jogs almost every afternoon. However, I have never had the need for a double stroller outside of that situation. DD had pretty much outgrown the stroller for everyday/outside the neighborhood use by the time DS arrived, and our neighborhood walks are all she'll do.
I had a double BOB with my 2U2, and used it primarily for running and outdoor walks. A single stroller plus a baby carrier was my preference for other situations. When I had my 3rd, I sold the double for a new single. DS was 3.5 and was done with strollers by then. I think you can go with out. I'd wait and see.
I got a sit and stand (the Joovy Caboose) and bought an extra seat so DD1 can sit in the back. We have to walk the dogs daily so I needed something but didn't want to spend $600 on the City I liked. It works just fine. Steering isn't as great as my single City Mini, but it gets the job done. I paid $100 for the stroller and $50 for the extra seat. My Keyfit straps into the front for DD2.
When DD2 is a little bigger I'd rather wear her, but for now she's not a big fan of being squished in the Becco.

I would maybe wait and see what you think you need after baby comes. I wore baby #2 a lot especially first few weeks so that gave me time to figure out what I really needed.

I would say this. DD was done with the stroller the summer just after turning 3 (May birthday) and was using a scooter to get most places by then. A double seems like a big investment for something you may or may not need. Plus, it makes it harder to go into certain stores, etc.
My first two are 2y5m apart. We bought a used double jogger at a garage sale for $10 and we've gotten a lot of use out of it. I was never a stroller person. I wore DS1 everywhere. But I've liked having a double stroller for things like the zoo and long walks. It's good to have for outings because it's way easier to keep DS2 in the stroller while I help DS1 with the potty And stuff than it'd be if I were wearing DS2 and trying to do stuff for DS1.
ETA: I would never have spent $$ to buy a new one, but I am happy we bought the used one.
I'd wait and see. J was only 21.mos when the girls were born. We initially didn't buy a triple stroller thinking we could baby wear or j could walk. Or we could take the.double and a single for j. Haha, yeah, that wasnt always realistic.
In reality, J walks 95% of the time but sometimes he still gets tired. Like if we want to walk around the lake a few times. It's about 1.5 miles around and we do it multiple times some days. Or if we are out all day at the zoo, hE might get tired etc. The baby wearing just wasn't always best either because sometimes it was hard to wear for long outings, or hard to wear and push the weigt of a double stoller,or we were constantly rotating them etc. Etc. Bottom line, we ended up realizing that we wanted the triple for the times J was tired, to contain all 3 etc. But I think you are safe to wait and see. Don't spend the money now but see how things develop later.

We had a sit and stand that was gifted to us and it was such a pain in the ass.
Generally, DS1 will walk and I will wear DS2, since DS2 isn't a fan of the stroller (even at 10 months). There have been times when we take 2 strollers, one for each, but DS1 never stays in it so it's also been a huge waste.

This is why we were alwas playing musical baby wearing. I would be wearing one and j would need to go potty, I couldn't fit in stall while wearing so then H would take the baby. Then that baby need changed, switch again. It was a huge PITA. So now we always have two ergos and the triple for long outings lol. We like options.

H rarely comes on outings like this because of his work schedule. We usually go with friends who have 1-3 kids of their own, so the trade off is not an option, lol
Mine are 2;8 apart. My SIL gave me a hand-me-down double & I don't think I ever used it. DS1 didn't mind a stroller, but he was happy to walk (& never runs out of energy). Sometimes we would go on walks as a family & H would push the single stroller or pull the wagon while I had the snap&go. Or DS1 would ride his bike. We couldn't go far that way, but far enough that everyone got some exercise & fresh air.
I have twins and only use a double stroller when running or on long walks. For all other purposes I find wearing one girl and pushing a single stroller easier. Double strollers are just so big.

I would wait and see if you need it. When DS was a baby I just wore him all the time. By the time he was too big for wearing, DD was too big for the stroller and wanted to run everywhere. The few times we could have used a double, like the zoo when I might tired of baby wearing, we just brought two strollers. I pushed one and DH the other.

Mine are 2 years, 5 months apart and I have used the heck out of my double BOB. I walk for exercise often and don't use it for the zoo, etc. Taking the kids out on walks was a sanity saver for me.
