It's been a while since DD has done this so I'm unsure of how to proceed, especially with the weekend coming up.
DD has been congested for several days. It is clear but there is a lot of it. No fever, at least I haven't noticed her being particularly warm, no lethargy, etc.
I was called to come pick her up early from MDO today because she was coughing all day and vomited all over herself and her nap mat about 20 minutes after nap time started. She is still coughing (about every 10 seconds) but is asking to eat, has an appetite, etc., so I'm sure the vomit was just because of the cough. She is playing and seems happy.
I know to angle the crib and use the humidifier. We use nose spray every night and I can do that more frequently.
Would you call the nurse line? Our practice has a triage nurse line, she'll talk over symptoms and recommend a course of action, including scheduling a sick visit if needed.
I'm mostly concerned about the development of the cough. It it wasn't Thursday (so likely earliest sick appt is tomorrow), then I'd just wait and see but with the weekend, I don't know.

DD's had a cough since Saturday. It's intermittent and just sounds like a normal cough, so I haven't called yet and won't unless it sounds like it's travelling into her lungs.
Disclaimer: my kid doesn't have breathing issues or a history of respiratory infections. In those cases, I would call.
If she seems fine, acts okay, eats good enough there's not much the dr. is going to do probably.
Unless you're at all worried about whooping cough, I'd let it be.
For my kids I'd Vick's them up give them some Zarabees (both of which are probably shunned on this board, but both came pedi approved, I read the labels and generally apply my overall common sense. ).
If they have a triage line there's really no harm in calling. I would do that just to not worry about it and get a heads up of what to look for if it gets worse.
I was hoping she could have cough medicine but I've looked online and apparently it's for 4 and up. Guess there is no point in calling. Damn.
Tonight is going to suck, after a long day of suck. Ugh.
Zarabees is safe from a year on up. It doesn't work as well as regular cough syrup but it does work decently. My pedi had no issue with it either.
I might try this, thanks! We have to go over to my grandmother's tonight to teach her to use the nebulizer. I love my grandmother but, damn, I just don't have it in me to listen to her complain about everything under the sun after I ran myself ragged taking her to the dr this morning. I needed a drink after her drs appt (just because she is so damn difficult at the dr, not because anything major is wrong) and now I REALLY need a drink. And a nap.
I'd wait. 99% chance it's a virus and they can't do anything, so why spent the time going in and getting more germs, KWIM? I pretty much only call if I think my kid needs meds or I'm wondering whether I should go to urgent care/ER. Otherwise I don't see the point.
I'm generally of this mindset. I'm just completely dreading being up half the night while she coughs after my crappy day. Where is a magic fix for a cough when you need one!?
