DS and I are going to be making a trip back to the area at the end of the month to visit family. We live in Los Angeles, and all DS's clothes are appropriate for that weather. What things are we going to need for him?
The trip will only be for about 5 days, and we're going back to visit my ill/dying grandmother. We'll spend most time inside with her, or other family, I imagine. I don't want to break the bank, but know we're going to need some stuff for house to car.
Also, does anyone know of a service that you can rent cribs from? My parents don't have a crib for DS at their place, and they're in the process of downsizing, so they don't want to buy more stuff for a short trip.
I honestly put N in a fleece and a hat to go from car to house. Or have your parents check at Costco for the Snouza jacket, which is around $22.
Other than that, I would say he will be fine in jeans and long sleeve shirts, maybe layered with a short sleeve tee underneath.
As far as a crib, how does he do in a pack n play? Yoy can buy one from Amazon for $40 which would save a hassle of trying to find a rental, picking it up and assembling. Then maybe you could keep it at your parents since it's compact.
We carry a heavy blanket and put that over our daughter (20 months) in the car because our car is freezing in the mornings. Off topic, but I just learned that turning on the car to heat it up doesn't really work anymore because cars no longer have carburetors.
Inside, she gets chilly so I do heavier pants, a LS onesie and a fleece. Fleece pjs at night too. Mittens, hat, warm shoes...you should be good.
ETA: we use a PNP when we travel too and it works fine.

I just put DD in pants, a long sleeve shirt, socks (that stay on for 0.5 seconds), and a hat. We're not outside long enough to need to bundle up more. If it's really cold, I wrap her up in my coat between the house/store/whatever and the car. If the car is cold when I put her in, I just put a blanket over her once she's buckled into her carseat.
I have a PNP you could borrow if you'll be in my area.
Thanks all! DS is ten months, but big. 22 pounds, 30.5 inches. PNP is a great idea, I'll talk to parents about getting one. We have one here, so he's used to it, but I don't really want to travel with it.
Clothing wise, sounds like we'll be fine, maybe just add a layer for him.
I'm in that area and can loan you mine if you'd like. Unfortunately it is really old (like from the 90's) but still works fine. I can loan you some sheets too. Totally understand if you'd prefer to get a newer one, though.
