It was an attorney I had called on a work related matter, and as we were saying goodbye I heard "Great, thanks for your call! Love you, bye". Click.
I'm always paranoid about doing this out of habit, and it's funny to hear someone else do it. I'm sure he's mortified, but probably also psyched it was me and not his boss.
(And no, there is absolutely no way it was a spontaneous confession of love).
I've done that with friends before (out of habit from talking to my H) but I was able to play it off like I meant it! Luckily never in a work situation before! (Knock on wood!)
I remember calling a teacher "mom" once, that was embarrassing!!!
haha, I did that once. I was talking to a client on the phone. During our discussion I was thinking how her voice sounded like my mom. then, I ended it with. Ok, thanks, love you. Click.

That's funny!
When I was still teaching, my students called me mom often. I was small group resource and spent a lot of time with some of the kids. I usually said "yes, honey" to them. It was funny.

One of our clients blurted out ' I love you' last time we were on the phone. It wasn't a confession of love, but it wasn't an accident either. All I did was tell him his bill amount, and it was the same as always. It was weird.

I posted last week that my loan company got an email from me intended for my husband. So, I basically asked my loan company to run some errands for me and then told them I loved them. Oops.
Haha, I'm really glad to see that other people have done this and/or are afraid of it! I've never done it, but I thought there was something wrong with me for being afraid I'd do it by accident.
Last year I helped one of our guys in the field in another state with a massive problem. When I called him back to let him know everything was under control he proposed to me. I'd worked with him for years and knew he was joking (he's married, I'm married, and he's probably 40yrs older). It was hilarious, and we play it up from time to time.
Last week I told a different guy in the field (still in another state) that he didn't have to key in a bunch of info but could subtotal and send in the detail. He responds with "I think I love you - no.. I KNOW I love you!" That one was a little awkward since this guy and I haven't been working together nearly as long, and don't communicate on a regular basis.
My dept thinks this is the funniest thing ever, and has made it a game to see if I can get all the guys in the field to "confess their love" for me.
i have done that before when leaving messages for people... then i have to call back laughing and leave another one explaining that it was a mistake- used to saying that to my husband, etc. So embarrassing!

I call my sister "honey" by mistake all the time. It's embarrassing. And then, one time, I met up with a girlfriend for lunch, and we went in for our usual, done-ten-thousand-times greeting kiss on the cheek, but we missed and kissed each other on the mouth. She literally had to wipe her lipstick off my lips.
I'm guilty of doing the opposite. I work at a call centre so when I'm on the phone I'm on automatic a lot of the time. I once answered my home phone with our standard greeting and another time, when I was getting off the phone with my mom she said "love you" and I said "thank you for choosing Company!"
I used to work as a hostess at a restaurant, so I would take phone calls for reservations. I can't even tell you how embarrassed I was when I told a customer I loved them! I prayed that they didn't remember my name when they came in, lol.
Whenever my boss calls me I have to consciously remember not to say "I love you". He is really the only person I talk to on the phone that isn't family, so it's reallllly hard.
