The bump is banning anyone and everyone who posts anything other than puppies and rainbows. And no gifs are allowed at all. Bumpies created their own Proboard called GoodbyeCB.
(I got this all from the CEP thread--I have never been on the Bump, so this is not firsthand knowledge!)
They seem to be trying to get rid of the boards by ensuring a 100% happy 100% of the time posting policy. Ownership has changed, the board staff have gone berserk, and most of the mods have abandoned ship or been banned. It's full scale chaos.

Admins were drafting new puppies-and-rainbows "community guidelines" and asked for feedback from the mods. Some mods even had phone conversations with the admins, and felt they were being heard when they explained how negatively these new guidelines would be received. Then the admins were basically, "OK thanks" and implemented them anyway.
When mods voiced displeasure, they were IP banned.
Then the board regulars revolted, and the place is burning to the ground.
The CEP thread explains that really the boards make very little money. They're more of a liability than an asset, so I guess they really don't care if people move on over to Proboards.
I think TB's model is different from the other place...a lot of people will Google information on pregnancy and go to a Bump article, but no one is really Googling how to do marriage. I think the exodus from the other place did hurt them, at least initially, but it won't faze TB at all.
Someone over there wanted to clean house because the boards weren't fitting with their brand, and that's the way they chose to do it.

There HAS to be a way to shut them down more democratically than that.
Haha. My bump board blew up last week about something similar. I wasn't that active on it. There were several threads that ended up with "fuck offs" going back, accusations of bullying, mods saying it was okay, threats of banning if you reported. I knew a few people who left over the whole situation. I don't remember my previous month board being that crazy. I am really surprised that they completely changed direction so quickly like that.
I went back to the BMB. After the weirdness went down, it was quiet except a few posters. Now, it is rather active. I went to the PB one and it had some activity, bit mostly intros. I don't see how it will sustain itself. I think some people on TB celebrated their snarkiness a little too much.
