We have childbirth class today. I'm kind of alarmed that there is so much to learn that it takes nine hours.
Jeez. My labors didn't even take nine hours.
Yeah, I wouldn't be alarmed. In my opinion, there is not much you really need to learn. We never took a class and the nurses/doctors told us everything we needed to know. It's not like you're going to be in labor and the staff will be like "what, you don't know what to do now? Well we aren't telling you, you should have remembered from the class".
I think the classes are good if having information before hand is a comforting thing, but not really necessary. I think the most helpful will be pain management information if you plan to have an unmedicated birth.
G was 7 months yesterday! I can't believe how fast the time has gone. As D2M said the other day, he's closer to 1 than not. Happy and said feels over here.
Also? I locked myself IN my car yesterday. I had jumped in the backseat to nurse G and must have hit the child lock switch. So I was trapped in the backseat as his car seat is in the middle. I ended up moving his car seat to the other side of the backseat and crawling and squirming up to the front. In work clothes and heels. Lol?
G did the research study yesterday and did so well. The head person was going on and on about how well he was doing. I lol'd as I'm sure she says that to everyone and I had just locked myself in my car. So.
Did anyone read the first grade homework thread on ML? I read the op and assume it was exaggerated. Correct?
Yes. I read far enough to realize it wasn't a 5-page, double-spaced, 12 point font, 1" margins report, it was a cover page, a drawing of a flag, a drawing of a map or something, and about 2 pages of 1-sentence facts about the country. LOL

There are lots of pee breaks And ours had an hour of touchy feely crap at the beginning ....."I'm Suzie from Iowa and I'm hoping to learn how to stay calm during childbirth from this class. ...I'm bob and I work at AT&T and I'm here because Susie made me come. " m
My H wants me to buy him an apron. Apparently all man aprons have to have guns or superheroes or fish or camo or sports themes? Uggggh. I just want something utilitarian and preferably under $25.
Check Williams-Sonoma. They're around $30, but they're nice quality and they have a lot of solid colors and plain stripes.

This + we had a lot of videos, and then quite a bit of time to practice the breathing, massage, etc.
Our instructors were a retired L&D nurse (who brought up how they would "style your bangs" in the event of a c-section, LOL) and a doula. They were helpful.
I really love my H. He really tries to do his part with house chores etc. but today I am ready to kill him. We were both straightening up in the family room and without moving anything out of the way, he pulled the hearth tray out of the fireplace (which is overflowing with ash) and carried it through the entire room to the back door to empty it. So yes, now every piece of the room is speckled with ash. This wouldn't be so bad if he had emptied the hearth in October from last year when I asked him. So two winters" worth of ash in the thing. Gross. Then he seemed annoyed that I went on a vacuuming and wiping frenzy.
And he has the nerve to comment on his brothers' lack of common sense at times. Sheesh.
@supergreen I hope everyone gets better soon so momma can get some rest! I had a very sick husband this past week then DD got sick so I've been running myself into the ground trying to take care of both babies. It's exhausting.

I had the same thought with our childbirth class. But it was probably only an hour of actual information. There was SO MUCH chit chat and common sense stuff.

OMG, you guys, I think I just ripped out DD's pinky toenail. It had was I thought was a snag in it, so I tried to gently tear it off. Except it wasn't a snag, and when I (really gently, I swear!) tugged at it, the whole nail moved and the toe started bleeding. Now the nail looks like it's just hanging on. OMG.
The bleeding stopped fairly quickly. She didn't cry or even seem to notice, and she's crawling and standing like normal, so I don't think it's hurting her. I put neosporin on it and put her in footed pants so she can't grab at it. Anyone have any other ideas of what I can/should do?

Um...DD slept for 7.5 hours in a row last night! I, however woke at usual first MOTN feeding, and couldn't sleep because I just *knew* she'd be up soon and need to eat. I'd like those 3 hours of sleep back...
The stomach bug has hit DH. He worked an overnight and came home this morning completely green. He's puked a few times & is now sleeping. It passed through me in less than 24 hours, so hopefully his passes just as quickly.
Please don't let DS get it, please don't let DS get it.
And in typical parenting luck, we had a babysitter scheduled for tonight 'just because'. Cancelled. Womp womp.

Williams-Sonoma has nice plain aprons that are not too expensive. We got coordinating ones as a wedding gift (we didn't register). That have held up well.
Omfg, H. We are trying to get to Ikea this morning, with a 2 yo and a 10 week old. H announces he wanted to go get a haircut first. This would take at least 45 minutes with traffic. Why does he not understand at this point that we have lunch and a nap we need to work around? We need to leave now dude.

DD is spending the day with my ILs so we can work on getting all of her old stuff out of the nursery, packing up the rest of her old clothes, etc. I should be starting that process while I wait for DH to get home, but instead I've made a to-do list and played on FB.
My mom got upset with me last night for no apparent reason (this is typical), and I'm really frustrated with it. I just want a normal relationship with my mother. I feel bad for my dad because he ends up being affected by our dysfunctional relationship since they're a package deal, but I don't know how to avoid that. Ugh.
Because I was a Pearl Jam person and not a Nirvana person, I didn't realize that Caspar Babypants' "Sliver" was a cover. It even has Krist Novoselic guest starring!
I'm supposed to go running in an hour and a half. I have been half-assing it the past few weeks between weather and illness so I should really go. This cold and flu season can GDIAF.
Disneyland Star Wars races day one! Mr. Kirkette ran his 10k this morning. I am about to wake up the girls, and get them ready for their races. Then, we'll have brunch at Downtown Disney. If we get a chance to go on a date, I'd like to take Mr. Kirkette to go see Spare Parts. However, I need to lay low and rest before tomorrow's race.
My best friend flew down to do this race tomorrow! It's a half, right? This is the first one she's doing and I'm so proud of her. Have fun!!

Ugh, we suddenly don't have water and I have no idea why. Of course nobody answers the phones on the weekend. At least I had just gotten out of the shower when I realized it.
Ugh, I was up at 3:30 with a horrible sinus headache again. Had to have a snack to take a Vicodin. And then I couldn't even stir pancake batter this morning because my hands are so swollen.
Can't wait for my afternoon of pampering. I need it.
I've been up since 5:11 with demon toddler. Throw the ball, oh my god why would you throw the ball? You've ruined my life throwing that ball. Find me a bowl for my goldfish. NOT THAT BOWL! I need a bowl that apparently doesn't exist but you better find it.
Swimming lessons at 9 then I'm off with friends tonight. THANK GOD.
I am in toddler hell today too. DH is no hep because he is taking classes and doesn't have time to play, yet he is the only one DS wants to play with. DH just came in to screaming toddler and said "what happened?" Um, I closed the door to the bathroom. Cue life ending tantrum.
God I'm so overloaded with work right now. I want to bury my head in the sand and make it go away. I will work 42 hours this week, 9' a 24 hour/ week part time schedule. Thankfully I get paid hourly.

OMG I feel horrible!
That's unfortunate. But she won't remember. So don't worry. Try not to do it when she is 5. She will remember forever.

My parents are taking the boys to the train museum today. So DH and i get a few hours of kid free time. I think our bog plan is to take down all the Christmas light off the outside of the house. Parry time!

Whoaaaa. Can't wait to show DH. He's a huge Nirvana fan and we haven't listened to enough Caspar Babypants.
