Check your individual app settings. If you have FB set to automatically refresh with location services turned on, it kills your battery and possibly your cell usage.
I agree with the above, but I know my phone does the above and my battery does not die quickly (I have the 5c). But it can't hurt to make those changes if your phone is dying quickly.
A couple other ideas to try too:
When you plug it in to charge, do NOT do it overnight. Plug it in and as soon as you can after it gets to 100, unplug. Leaving it constantly plugged in when it's charged actually kills the overall battery life.
Make sure everything is really closed. If you double click the "home" button, it will bring up all your open apps. Swipe up to close them. If a lot are open, they use your battery. I do this every day or so and if my DS ever gets a hold ofmy phone - I'll have A TON of open apps.

It will die if I don't plug it in overnight...it can't hold the charge for the 5 hours I'm sleeping.

I'm not sure I know how to do this....is it the same as turning off cellular data?

Go to settings/general/usage and turn off your background app refresh. That will make it so things refresh when you open them, not at regular intervals while the app is closed out.

This is off. I am thinking its a battery issue.
thanks, everyone, for all your help!
Do you have Apple Care? I had the same thing start happening with my 5S. I took it in to the Apple store, they ran diagnostics and gave me a replacement phone.

No. It's a hand-me-down.
Would the original owner help you out, if the Apple Care is still in effect?
I really think the battery life of an iPhone is only about two years. The battery of my 5 started getting really bad around that point; I got a new phone. But just one other suggestion that's a battery-drainer: is your Bluetooth turned on?
I don't think it would matter. When I took mine into the Apple Store last September they just verified that it was one of the serial numbers affected. It only took about an hour for them to fix it.
