I tried a sample of the Hair One for Dry hair yesterday and I liked it, but it took forever! Are there other sulfate-free cleansers that don't require you to massage for 3 minutes, leave in for 5 minutes, etc.? It said to use a little bit of the Hair One as a leave-in (on wet hair), so I didn't towel dry (I was weirded out about towel drying my hair with product in it) so it took forever to blow dry.
I have never used a sulfate-free shampoo before, but I have done low-sulfates that don't suds up. I have dry, thick, color-treated hair and dry scalp. Is sulfate-free worth the time and effort in the long run?
And a follow-up question - does sulfate-free have any effect on how long you can go without washing? My extremely dry hair only needs to be washed twice a week currently, so I'm curious if sulfate-free will mean it needs to be washed more often.
Hair One takes so long because it's a cleansing conditioner. There are other sulfate free products that don't take so much time. You'll get some good recommendations on here.
I love Hair One and really don't feel like it adds much time to my routine. I apply it to my hair first thing in the shower, massage for a couple of minutes, leave it in while I finish my shower, then rinse it out last thing. So at most it adds maybe 1.5 minutes to my shower since I normally would probably only massage for 30 seconds
And to your follow up question, I find that with Hair One I can actually go longer between shampoos, which I find weird. I have no idea why that might be the case.
I've never used a completely sulfate free product other than Hair One, but I do like Suave Keratin shampoo and conditioner, which is low sulfate. You use it just like any other shampoo and conditioner, and it leaves my hair really soft. I have to wash my hair just as often with this product as with any other - which for me is daily or at least every other day.
I love kai shampoo! It makes my hair so healthy and fresh feeling. It's honestly so worth it to use sulfate free and this one is great for colored hair. I buy mine at beautysak.com, so along with this shampoo (which is amazing) I also get free samples (and free shipping if you get the conditioner too). I highly recommend it.
