How often do you do this? Im invited to three happy hours this week. ( tomorrow, wed and Thurs plus sushi dinner on Friday) I don't have other obligations after work (hubs can let pup out, no kids, no other meetings) Is this excessive? I am social and enjoy hanging out with friends and one will be paid for as it's a little "shower/ bon voyage" for a coworker getting married in HI next week and food and Bev are a favor from the restaurant.
Anyway... Is it excessive to go out three week nights in a row, plus a Friday? I'm thinking I'm going to skip out on Thurs since its furthest away from home... But I'm curious how often others go out during the week.
Not often, Thursday nights are dog training or horse training nights with either trainer, other then that, stuff is scheduled on the weekends. I work too much during the week, and between exercising, taking care of dogs/horses I am done after work. Its not a lot if its okay with your spouse, its a problem when its issue with the other person. Would never work for us though since we have a system.
Before DS and especially while I was still working, I tried to have drinks almost every day on my way home. Then, we went out to lunch/dinner on the weekends.
If I had a regular 9-5 job, I would totally do that. My job is the kind that I could only do that one, maybe two nights a week. And I would have to do work before I could go out.
I feel like I only go out with friends on weekdays because that's when H is away and I have my "dates" with people. But it's usually about once a week. I say play it by ear.
I actually always really disliked going out right after work. I could never commit to a time because my company sucked about throwing work at you at the end of the day, and I always felt stressed, rushed, and gross. I much preferred to go home, relax, freshen up, and go out to dinner or for after-dinner drinks / dessert.
Although I did (and still do) like having people over or going to someone's house, either for dinner or to watch a movie or a particular TV show (e.g. Project Runway finale). That's more my style of weeknight fun.
One night/week is too many for me. I'm a 1-3/month kinda gal. But I'm a homebody (but would happily host people here much more often than that).
Then I won't mention that if I do do this, I'll have to get up at like 450am for a yoga/ spin class at least once this week if I do attend all three events soo I get my workouts in for the week and I don't gain 20 lbs from going out! Or that although my work usually gets me out at a normal 9-5 schedule I also have an hour and 20 min commute on eiher end...
This is not something I would personally do. I like to lounge around at night too much! However, if you're up for it, go! It doesn't really matter how anyone else feels about it.

Sunday through Thursday I go out a few times a week, sometimes with my husband and our friends, sometimes just with friends. This week we'll be out every night, however. I'm having dinner with friends tonight and tomorrow. My husband is seeing friends tonight and going on a work dinner tomorrow. Wednesday we are having dinner with another couple, and Thursday we're going to a Broadway show. It's pretty easy to do in NY since it doesn't take too much time to meet a friend for a drink after work.
I go out about 2-3 nights a week and don't count Friday as a weeknight. I'm single, no kids, I'm going to go out. I'm usually in by 11 PM though because I have work early and can't recover as quickly.
We don't normally go out during the week, but this week is sort of different. My sister took all three kids to the city for a couple of days. When they get back, my parents want them for a few days.
After work I just want to go home, throw on comfortable clothes, and relax. I rarely go out after work for drinks/dinner unless it's a work event.
We should hang out. I actually get annoyed when I have to stop and do errands on the way home because I just want to get home, change, and sit on the couch for a while. Maybe this is why I have such difficulty working out at night, but that's a different thread.
I don't mind planning a weeknight activity once or twice a month. I feel like it helps the work week go by quicker. But if I have too much planned, then I just feel exhausted and that time's going by too quickly. It's weird. With all that said, I've been trying to find a workout class to go to at least once a week so I make myself do something at night.
When I was in my 20s and lived in downtown DC, I used to go out a few nights a week.
Now I'm old and live in the suburbs with a dog. I like to sit on the couch a lot.
This is also a great activity. Thats why I usually try not to go home if I have plans. If I get home, I dont want to leave. We'll work on getting you, and perhaps the pup off the couch soon! After work slows down I'm going to send you a message!
