anyone have good tips? I swear this is my LEAST favorite thing of all time. Somehow it takes like 5 tries before it looks right and then there's a million holes in the wall. This time I need to hang three pictures all at the same level... what's the best method to make sure they are even and straight?
I am not much help. My H won't let me hang things that involve putting holes in the wall lol But he usually will mark them out with a laser level or regular level. I would say if placement is an issue use paper to cut out similar sized shapes and hang them with tape, step back and check to see where you want them before considering holes.
ditto laser level, and the tape trick if you are hanging a picture that needs a nail on both sides instead of just one in the middle. Take masking tape or painters tape, and on the back of your picture frame, cut a piece of tape to the width between the holes. Stick the tape up on the wall where you want the picture hung, then make sure it is level. nail one nail on either side of the tape, and hang.
for pictures that need to be all the same height, the laser level is your friend. I've done many of these (in our Scottsdale place we've got 3 pictures hanging in a row, and in our master we have 2 rows of 4 pictures)
