"I don't know where this is coming from. What's wrong with my hair? I just simply gelled it back, put some clips in it and put it in a bun. Are you kidding me? I just made history. And you're focusing on my hair? I just want to say, we're all beautiful inside out. I don't think people should be worried about that. Nothing is going to change," she said.

Love her. And I especially was proud about what a gracious sport she was yesterday after the uneven bar finals. After the Russian gymnast was such a complete brat during the team and all around, people were still nice to her after she won. I hope she learned something.
I'm glad she called them out on it so blatantly. Not that I think it's going to have any effect on those who comment on it because most of them just need something to talk about.

Agreed, with how gracious she was. The Russian who won last night was a terrible sport. The way she was smiling and hugging her coach, while Gabby was still in the middle of her routine, was really shitty. That's fine, after the routine is over and you know you've won, but while she's still on the bars and she screws up? You stand there and show a little respect until she at least finishes.
Crazytalk - I wanted to punch that Russian girl in her bitch face. Of course I thought McKayla was all kinds of ungracious about her silver the other day. And Gabby was so together after her loss - total loss - whereas McKayla was a pouty bitch after getting a silver. Makes me like Gabby even more.
Crazy--the Russian girl made me stabby last night. FFS, smiling during Gabby's routine? Yikes. It was awful. As was McKayla's pouting on the medal stand. They can all learn a little something from Sam Mikulak. I so loved him last night. The last two gymnasts knocked him out of medal contention and he was right here, hugging all of them and congratulating them and it really looked genuine. Hell, he was already out of medal contention when the last vaulter went (and ultimately took the gold), and the cameras picked him up excitedly saying to his coach, "I can't wait to see this guy fly!" THAT's sportsmanship.
As to Gabby and her hair critics, she has more grace than I think I'd ever have in that situation. She's so awesome.
