Just colored my hair for the first time in years. I bought a sample of Aveda's shampoo/conditioner for colored hair to use and it seems to irritate my scalp. Any other recommendations for color treated hair products? (I have fine hair, but need extra moisture since my hair is pretty long).
I've colored my hair for years and I'm kind of hard on it. I swear by Pureology in the Hydrate formula. You don't need a lot of it and it works awesome. I have shorter hair now but when it's longer there's very little that works as well as that for me. I also loved the Bumble and Bumble line, especially the creme de coco. That being said they're both pricey brands but when it comes to hair product, you get what you pay for. I've got tons of friends that are hair stylists so I would be shunned if I ever tried something that wasn't a professional brand. I know a lot of ladies on here have found some products that can be found in the drugstore and they work excellently for them. I think everyone is a little different, you might have to shop around to find something that you love
Not surprised Aveda irritates your skin. Their products can do that to me and I really don't have sensitive skin. It's weird.
I actually picked up L'oreal EverPure Sulfate Free and love it. My hair felt like straw after coloring it when I used my normal shampoo and after switching to this it makes it really soft and smells good. Best part is, you can pick it up at target.
Pureology was my goto for years. I have stopped coloring my hair and have been using a Kirkland shampoo and conditioner with good results. Seems high quality (based on the ingredients).
I can't use Aveda either and also use Pureology hydrate. I now use it on my colored hair but my hair stylist also recommended it when my hair isn't colored.
I use Pureology (the Platinum line, but I have tried and liked others as well). I also alternate with the Kirkland Brand Moisturizing line, it's supposed to be a Pureology dupe, and it works nicely.
I was loyal to Pureology for years and when they sold I think it changed. I started using Color Proof, which is the new line of the guy who created Pureology and I love it.
I also don't mind the Kirkland Moisturizing line for a cheaper alternative.

I actually LOVE Suave Professionals' line for colored hair, either the Keratin Infusion or Morrocan Infusion. Love it even more than Aveda or Pureology, which I have also tried, and it's not expensive at all.

I like Wen, Sojourn Colour Preserve, and Alterna's Caviar line. My color lasts must longer whe I use these. I'm currently using Wen. Sephora carries almost all of them in store now if you want to try Wen or Alterna. Sojourn is harder to find.
Pureology line is tried and true for me (Hydrate is great when my hair is colored and dry, and I use Volume with Hydrate Light when I have virgin hair, like now) Big Sexy line is new to me, I'm trying it out Anything that is sulfate free, really.
You'll want to decrease how often you wash, to about every 3-4 days if possible. Washing strips color.

This. I love that line. They have different kinds for smoothing, volume, curly hair, etc. It's awesome!
