What was the 4-month wakeful like for you? Did they resume STTN after it was done, or did you eventually have to sleep train?
DD had been sleeping until about 7:30, but the last few days she's been getting up by 6 and sometimes waking up MOTN, and this morning she was up at 4. She talked to herself in the RNP for about 15 minutes before she started fussing, nursed for 20 minutes, then kept smiling at me and trying to play. Finally fell asleep in the swing at 5:45. It's starting, isn't it?
Ha, I guess I just got spoiled by my magical baby who was sleeping 12 hours by 12 weeks!
She's only 3 1/2 months so it's quite possible it'll get worse, but she's also been super playful and a distracted nurser during the day which is what made me think it may be starting.

Ds has only sttn a handful of times but is generally a good sleeper. He really didn't have 4mw like ds1. Right before 5 months though he had a rough week then started rolling over and went back to sleeping well again (generally until 4 or 5)
We had a great sleeper and skipped the four month wakeful entirely. However, now the six month sleep regression has arrived and hasn't left. She's 8 months now.
M was a "good sleeper" in that when she was a newborn it'd take us 3 hrs to get her to fall asleep, but she generally sttn (6-7hr stretch) after that. (She did sleep in her swing). After 4MW she fell asleep *easier but never slept longer than 4-5 hr stretches until I weaned her at 1yr.
*easier is relative. She finally let me nurse her to sleep and we did that for 3 months before STing at 7mo. Then all went to hell at 9 months and we lost our minds until we weaned her in hopes of better sleep. It worked for us.
My early STTN baby started the 4mw around 3.5 months. Oh god, I was not prepared, lol. Up every hour, every 2 hours for weeks. It got better around 5ish months (but not STTN) and now at 6.5 it's getting worse again . She's up every 2 hours lately.
I thought I had won the baby sleep lottery. DS STTN from 2-4.5 mo (9p-6a). He wasn't a great napper but I didn't really care since I was sleeping at night. Then he started waking up multiple times a night. We night weaned eventually which helped. Then we did a couple rounds of sleep training. He still wakes up occasionally at almost 2. :/

DS STTN or close to it a lot during my ML. Of course, the toddler started being a heathen in the middle of the night then, so that was fun. Then I went back to work, and DS has decided to eat the bare minimum of calories at daycare, and hang out with me all night. And now he's six months, and I see the beginnings of teeth on the bottom. ::yawn:: what was the question?
E pretty much STTN from 6w to the 4mw. And it was downhill after that, lol.
We ST at 5.5m for bedtime. Then at 9m we ST to night wean b/c she was getting up 2-3x a night and in some cases we would have to sleep with her in the rocker.

I will preface this with the fact that I know I have a unicorn baby. That is a big reason why we are OAD. DD starting sttn at 6 weeks (11-5) and then 10-7 a little while later. I was scared to death of the 4 month wakeful, so was DH. Around 4 months, she had a stretch of maybe a week where she would get up once at night or fuss a few times, but that was it. Like I said, I am very aware of how lucky we are with her. But, I wanted to post to give you some hope that maybe you too have a unicorn.
She is incredibly strong willed already, so I am sure I will pay for her easiness when she is a teenager. I will pay dearly.
DD was STTN at 7 weeks. For the 4MW she was up a few times a night for a week or 2, then went back to her regular pattern. She was (and still is) an amazing sleeper.
Our 4mw was AJ waking up a couple times a night and chitchatting to himself for anywhere from 10 mins-an hour before going back to sleep. If he got fussy I'd nurse him but more often than not he'd talk to himself for a bit then go back to sleep.
We had similar regressions around 9 months (except then he'd wake up and get mad fairly quickly, but could be settled down after some rocking and singing) and 17 months (waking up pissed 1-2x/week, getting pissed when going to bed), both times lasted around a month.

DD was a good sleeper pretty early on. The 4MW seemed to last 2-3 days, where she'd wake up and not want to go back to sleep for an hour or so. Knock on wood, she hasn't had any other sleep regressions.

We did have the 4mw which lasted a few weeks if I remember. Then she was back to sttn. The biggest sleep regression was 8-9 months but that was also coupled with first winter sicknesses. We didn't sleep train per say but we would let her cry maybe 10 minutes before going in and she would often go back to sleep. Been a great sleeper since.

We never really had one. The only thing is that he started not really wanting to nap during the day/fighting naps unless he was on me. That last until 6 months when he just randomly decided he was cool with napping in the crib.
DS woke at 1am for a bottle for like 7 days at 4 months. He had been STTN since 7 weeks. He went back to STTN after a week. We sleep trained at 7 months for going to sleep without rocking.

DD STTN from 6 weeks to 4 months. She was a pain in the ass to get to sleep, but once she was asleep, she was out all night. Then the 4MW hit, and she was up 10-12 times a night. It lasted the entire month. She then worked her way down to 2 wake ups a night, then one. She went back to STTN at 10 months. We sleep trained at 6 months for bed time, but I never officially night weaned; she did that on her own.
Yeah....I always think I have a good sleeper. Then I read this stuff and back right out.
I met my cousin this weekend and was talking about sleep deprivation. She was like, "yeah it was rough those first 8 weeks before he sttn".
i have a friend who makes a point to complain to me every time her 6 month old doesn't sttn (like 1x a week if that?). she "just wants to commiserate with someone who gets it." it took everything in my being to not respond with a loud Fuck You.
not that people with good sleepers are never allowed to complain. bad sleep sucks whether it's one night or two years. i just wish this friend would pick someone a little more in her league to commiserate with.
My DS has been a pretty great sleeper since about two months. For us, the 4MW happened at about 3.5 months, and was basically a week of waking up wanting to party for a couple of hours in the middle of the night. After the week, he went back to his normal STTN.
The 8ish month sleep regression was MUCH tougher in our house. That was about three weeks of being awake for hours on end in the middle of every night. Once he was done making those developmental leaps, he went back to normal, though. We've never had to sleep train.
