So, this is farther in the future, because the program I'm looking at is for 4 year olds, but would you move your child from one preschool to another, if it would give them an opportunity to go into a k-12 immersion program? There's a pre-k Japanese immersion program at a nearby elementary school, she would go to the middle school near our house, still, and her HS would stay the same, but she would also have the opportunity to go to Japan as part of her schooling when she's older. It's a lottery, so there's no guarantee she'd even get in, but is it worth it to start at one preschool and then switch a year later?

I'm hoping to switch Ari next year. My plan is for him to do 1 year at a private preschool and then move him into the towns integrated preschool. I don't think moving a big deal at all.
I plan on trying to enroll Ada in a Spanish program. It will be inconvenient as its a lot further away from our house but I want her to learn a 2nd language so it'd be worth it to me. I wouldn't prefer Japanese, Spanish or Mandarin I would put more effort into getting her enrolled, because I think long term they offer more.

I would prefer Mandarin or Spanish, but this is the only immersion program in our district, unfortunately.
One of the schools I am at is a French immersion school and it is truly amazing to see the kids speak a second language from a young age. I would be willing to move her from one school to another for the opportunity.
I would for a Spanish immersion but japanese I would worry I couldn't support at home. I wouldn't want to switch after the program started whether that's 4 or 5. Do you mean she will go somewhere else at 3 then switch at 4? PPS has a ton of Spanish immersion programs I'm surprised there isn't one or many in your area

That is crazy. I don't thinking switching her is a big deal if you like the Japanese program!
We moved nick to immersion when he was 4 and he did great. Planning to do the same with Alex. I personally would not care for Japanese either but rather Spanish or Chinese. We really doing German for obvious reasons but not bring able to support at home really is not a major problem.

If that's important to you, why not? We moved Max from one preschool to another this year and it wasn't a big deal :/ She will be fine. Sounds like a great opportunity! Max will be in a spanish immersion program K-5 that I am excited about.
So, since it's a lottery anyways, I looked into another school that has a spanish immersion program in the next district over. It's actually only about 5 blocks farther away than the one in our district, and their immersion program is also a lottery. They don't have a preschool, but it might be worth it to just wait.

So you can enter the lottery twice right? Pre-k and K. I would enter and see what happens.
